I go to a fair few gigs so i figure i may as well start putting up some reviews. First up is the Shihad and Cog Homeland Security Tour, at the ANU Bar, Canberra, Australia on Thursday the 1st of september.

Links: Cog - http://www.cog.com.au/
Shihad - http://www.shihad.com/
To sum up the show in one word: spec-****ing-tacular. Both these bands rock harder than anyone around today, and tonight was no different. Cog kicked off the show, with an amazing light show backing up their incredible music. They are currently touring their new debut LP, and played a few songs off it and few off their EPs. The crowd was loving ever minute of it and went off at the end when they played their awesome new track "My Enemy" - recommend. Shihad, NZ's finest, rocked out like you wouldn't believe, with Johnny Toogood going nuts up front. They blasted out a few of their newies off their new long player "Love is the new Hate" plus a few oldies like Run and Comfort Me.

All up , \mm/, to much rock for one hand.

nice thread

Franz Ferdinand, went to the Edinburgh gig of their tour.
Fantastic live show.
REALLY got the crowd going and the energy was brilliant.
If you've not heard them before you really need to listen to them :)

Made up for the support band - Ladytron - who got the loudest noise from the crowd when we thought they'd finished and then they started playing another number. The grown was clearly audible - even to those on the stage !!!

I was annoyed as I thought it was going to be Arcade Fire and I'd heard they were good :(

Pics and vids are up at http://www.bad-boy.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Franz%20Ferdinand%20Edinburgh%20Aug%202005/ ( sorry they're raw and big and the sound from the digi camera is sh"!te !!! )

Man I just realised how long it's been since I went to a concert. This is saddening!

A couple years ago I went to the St. Kilda festival, mainly for the bands that were playing I managed to secure a fence spot (right at the front) along with several friends for the concert. The first band that came on whilst we were there was Pornland. These guys were absolutely brilliant, with great music, a wonderful vibe and heaps of crowd attention. This was the warm up band for Killing Heidi, who was massively popular back then. They sucked! They came on, immediately had a problem with the song they were playing, payed no attention whatsoever to the crowd and just had a general bad vibe about them. To make matters worse there was a large group of very intoxicated men behind us who decided it would be fun to grope anything and everything. This resulted in us getting taken out from the front of the stage. Managed to see Pornland around the side and snuck in a "You guys rock!" before we were escorted out :D.

Looks like I'll have to check out Shidad, where and when were they playing 2nd?
