Could be a Vauxhall, but that's just a wild guess. A very wild one.

It almost looks like an ancient Bugatti to me, but I'm the last person you'd ask about cars before the 80's.

Bugattis of that era are much smaller.

Lagonda...Simplex...
I'm just throwing out names of cars that look faintly similar.

not sure, but a quick DVLA look up says it's a 1924 vehicle - stragely it has no entry for make or model :( Which suggests it may be a custom body.

I googled on the license plate number and found nothing, so it may be a one-off.

no,s adly the source of the info is straight from the DVLA access systems.
So it only can tell WHEN it changed hands.
It was a stab-in-the-dark suggestion that checking 2001 auctions might id it as I dont' think its the kind of car that woudl change hands away from the auctions - unless it IS something mundane. Probably only a 30% chance it was I guess :(

Yeah, i can understand why you guessed it was sold at auction. Unless maybe it was traded for another classic at a car show? Who knows, will need to investigate further tomorrow, after i come back from school. Can you maybe give me some sites that could help me, or would it be the best idea to run it through google/yahoo/msn?

I think you got it.:)
Front end of this car definitely looks like 1924 Vauxhall Type OE (odd shape of hood, number and postion of vent slits, shape of lever). Reference pics here (http://www.barrieagillies.com/motocoper/1924_vauxhall.htm).
Most likely it is a one-off (as suggested by henk4 and Matra).
Bodywork is from aluminium and looks kinda racy, so it could be an ex-race car?
