Yeah, but I say the composition has to have some influence in the picture. If I posted a picture of me and some random guy sitting in a Volkswagen, I wouldn't expect people to vote for that either. There's a reason Ferrari, Aston, Lamborghini, Bugatti etc. etc.'s are photographed.

This is not just a random car with a random driver; this is the actual car Sir Stirling Moss drove to the company's most famous racing victory in a record time. This is history captured in pixels. The big chinned comedian I could have done without.
This shot can in no way be compared with the random Ferrari or Lamborghini shots that have dominated the previous competitions.

Not only that though, the photographer needs to have a sense of timing of what he is looking at. For me personally I always failed to capture the moment, so to speak, which is quite important IMO for the photographer to do. I don't think I've ever caught a winning car at the race on it's celebratory lap....often because I didn't realize it til it's too late....lol

I am getting better at panning my shot though, got quite a few good one this year....will enter another one next week...;)

I agree... timing is critical, even more so in track shots than still shots...

the only thing that i didnt like about nopassn's shot is there is no motion. you cant really tell if they are moving fast or slow but other then that its an awesome shot.

Racing maniac. I tried to do a few shot like that at Road America this summer, but it's unbelievably difficult. Nopassn has one of the most beautiful cars on Earth in it, but it fails the 'Civic' rule.

No it does not. There is no Mille Miglia winning Civic to be reunited with its winning driver fifty years after the fact. I agree that it lacks the motion though.
