hey lads, i saw a car today, driving around, it looked very nice, had quad exhausts (smallish though), it looked almost like an S13, but bigger, maybe even an older soarer.

the badge was a V shape, with some details i couldnt make out, any help would be appreciated, pics too :o

it might have been one of the really early soarers, that looked a lot like the toyota crown it was based off

But a V shaped badge...Could it possibly be a Eunos? I don't know of any Eunos coupes though.. Sam do you think it was a Japanese car?

i duno its hard to tell. it had an s14 look alike roof, but a soarers body. but lower and longer..

GOT IT!

http://www.rx7-gallery.co.uk/binhist/p3history80/eunos_cosmojc_9095/16_p1.jpeg

Its a Mazda Eunos Cosmo, with the monster 20b Twin Turbo Rotary.

The sound of that sounds kinda weird. Triple rotor/twin turbo, but i assume its a similar small/large setup to the RX-7...

The early Cosmos had 13b's but later on got the 20b intercooled twin turbos, producing 205kw and 400nm of torque, available at just 3500rpm which seems quite unusual for a rotary.

400nm is tuned twin turbo RX-7 levels! I suppose it helps having the equivalent of a 9 cylinder engine.

actually the 20b twin turbo is the equivalent of a conventional 6 cylinder.
http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/magazine_articles/SCC_article_1.html , this whole bit should explain the 20b twin turbo motor.

Theyre saying its a 6 as it fires twice as often than a conventional 4 stroke engine, but each rotor has 3 combustion areas as opposed to a piston having 1. Each rotor therefore acts as 3 cylinders. You could then argue its really an 18 cylinder equivalent for the 20B...

that means it is powerful.

Sorry car_fiend, ignore what i said. The rotors having 3 combustion faces would simply offset the rotors spinning at 1/3 the speed of the crankshaft (where in fact the rpm's are measured), so it is representative having twices as many cylinders as rotors if you simply go by the firing rate..

if u want some more stuff about the car, or the company, you can visit um... pettitracing.com , i think, and try and find about the RX-7 Banzai Edition. a few years ago, they had cars up for sale, the company being located in florida. not sure what happened if they sold them, or still have them. my $.02

Nah, it had five; one in each corner and one in the boot.
