ok ive been researching the NSX-R GT and ive been looking at varying stats and info
A. wats the price?
B. does it have an inline 6 or a v6 ?
C. wats the BHP?
D. how many were made? 5 or 30?
Any info would help but it would be nice if it was as accurate as possible

I think it is mechanically the exact same car but with a lewd bodykit...they aren't making many, not 30.

a. dunno, but expensive its gotta be
b. should have a V6 just like the normal car

I read in road & track that the roof scoop isn't functional.

Amazingly expensive, even NSX owners consider the price of this car to be a joke.

I can find ways of justifying US $90K, $400K+ is impossible.

Same V6 engine.

Built as the world's newest homologation special, the Honda NSX-R GT is a celebration of everything NSX. About the only thing this car is missing the tow hook, otherwise it could be a contender for the Japan Touring Car Championship (JTCC).

Changes to the car include multiple carbon fibre pieces, including a dramatic front air dam and a massive rear scoop that extends way beyond the roof. For power, Honda use the same 3.2 liter unit found in the production NSX-R.

Only five examples of this supercar are set to be made for the public and all were availble to the first people to fax an order to the Honda CS Sales division. No doubt all are spoken for now. Production starts in August of 2005.

Find that hard to believe -- do you have a reference to the article on line ?

I can imagine that the scoop isn't a RAM for the intakes and instead is for cooling. Coudl they have meant that ?? ie it's nto functional as a RAM. Mid engines are VERY hard to cool when you start pushing them - says he with a blown head gasket :(

Did find this ......
"The NSX-R GT Brochure...

- Only 5 units to be manufactured
- 50 million Yen each
- JGTC spec wide body
- Turbocharged engine (so probably around 500hp)

Enjoy the pics from the Japanese only brocure...

IIRC it's a complete composite chassis/body ????

The roof scoop is functional. It increases braking ability through a unique new Honda technology called "drag".

the NSXs in the GT500 class of the JGTC are TT 3 litres jobs, with 500 bhp, but i'm pretty sure this one is only 3.2 n/a. That intake looks dreadful, ruins the look on this car. They look alright in full race trim but this doesn't do it for me

There are only 5. that alone makes it worth alot. So theoretically you could buy one now then sell it for more later on.

But i think it looks ugly. maybe if they took that scoop and flattened and stretched it so it basically took in the same air but was the width of the roof and didnt stick up as much.

And is it just me, or does it look like the scoop is coming out of the rear window and thats it? shouldnt it be coming out of the trunk/hood? or whatever you'd call it on that car?

The NSX engine is well forward in the rear compartment. I think that's coming in on top.

Re the shape, it depends on what the flow over the rooflien is.
By putting it up there it may be in a higher pressure zone and hence more airflow in.
Or they may have needed it to be non-turbulent to prevent resistance at the intake.
The one thing I woudl be confident on is that if Honda did it then it was done for an engineering reason :)

True, but then again i was talking purely aesthetics. But i agree, and if it performs better then i guess id still rather have it that way.

Didn't Honda make F1 engines during the period when they were running turbo donks?
