OK, so everyone's probably bored with me yammering on about how track days are cheap and the best way to find the limits of your cars.

Well here's set of photos from one fo oru days at knockhill.
This was a local club day and we had a variety of cars....

Enjoy ( or igrnore ) :)
:) :) At least I know it will head off any abuse from Egg-Nog et al about my comments :) :)

Well werwe they of any interest ?

BTW, the most impressive car on the day was the new Civic R-type. Really fast and handled nicely. Put some of the 'supercars' to shame :)

The Subaru estate surprised a few !

The Diablo spent 10 minutes in the pits 'warming the engine' ( aka posing ! ) and then did 5 laps and then sat in pits with engine bay open ( aka posing again ) and then on his second outing stuffed it into the sand trying to keep up with Elise. Didnt' see the driver as he hurriedly put the car into the transported and disappeared !!
Our driver of the day award went to the guy in the S2000 who took EVERY corner sideways with a HUGE smile on his face. he didn't care what his lap times were he was just loving getting to find how controllable his car was :)

Yep the Alpine is mine :)
Sadly the guy in the 360 sold it a couple of months ago....Right after his first service when Ferrari told him every gearchange and revs on that day (!) and pointed out that as he was driving it that hard then there were more things done in the service and more would be needed for the next.
He had already used 25% of the life of the discs ( not pads - DISCS ).
So he was looking at a 5 GRAND service.
So he sold it and got another 911 !!!

Sadly no, the seats are cloth/velour yuk.
Very confortable and good support in corners :) but not the 'look' :(

As the car was used in TV series in Spain they didn't want leather seats as it causes noise problems when recording :(
If anyone knows an A610 leather interior, I'll take the seats :)

But you just need another set of rims. Why not try the HRE rims
Take a look and tell me what do you think about that

Partly car and more likely driver ( have to avoid litigation ) but the Diablo could NOT keep up with the more nimble cars.
There's a nasty 90-right and downhill dip at the end of the straight at Knockhill - see www.knockhill.com.
Anyway his off, came there , he was overtaken going into the braking zone and tried to hold of braking for as long as the two Elises who'd just buzzed him. The fool didn't think about mass , There are probably still the HUGE 4 streaks of rubber as he locked up !!
The F40 made lots of noise and looked nice going past the pits, but again was swarmed by the smaller cars. ( btw, the R-type lapped faster than BOTH of them - but he IS a good driver !! )

On the day, I had intermittent mis-fire and didn't get more than about 5 minutes before it would being cutting out. Now that the head gaskets blown we've found the reason :(

I'm sure that this guy don't know how to drive is Lambo. He just bought it for "the poser contest" lol. If I were him I will sell my Lambo to a real driver... :p

hee-hee, how did you guess :)
I've just had the original Alpine alloys refinished and plan to keep them for events - classic car show, Scottish sportscar show etc.
For day-to-day I'm trying to find out how wide a wheel I can fit with standard bodywork. I think it's got to be good enough for 285s if we can get onto 19" rims and big offset.
I'm still waiting for A-R specialists to advise.
I'd prefer OZ racing rims ( similar to the second one but in WHITE ) as used on the A610 when it competed at Le Mans in 94 and 95. Also, I trust OZs having seen the abuse they took on brothers Audis !!

Yes, that's a good project... find a leather interior, new rims and your car will be not an Alpine but THE Alpine.... I plan to buy a Renault Super 5 in 6 months and I will change many part of the car and add a navigator system etc... new rims, leaather sun roff etc... I think the Super 5 is really good for this project. In fact we are 3 on this project and perhaps we will change the engine for a more powerful engine. It will be very interesting

I plan to buy a Renault Super 5 .
"Super 5" ? Do you mean a "MAXI" - one of the rear engined 5s ?
I've never heard of the name "Super" :)
I've sat in the "Tour de Corse" and watched ( and listened ) to it as Jean Ragnotti took it round Mount Stuart.
Fantastic little car and VERY good power/weight and very "squirtable" - ie point it and press the righ foot and it goes in the direction you point :)
250bhp and 900kg as standard.
They claimed 250km/h with the 'long' gears

Got you.
We didn't have the "Super" tag in the UK.

The lag was quite bad and the torque steer was a handful.
But I guess with more modern turbo and boost management you can counter that.

Ugly cars tho' :)

Abuse? Why would you get abuse? :)

Anyway, thanks for posting the photos. I've never personally been to a trackday. (Or whatever it might be called here - trackday seems to be a British colloquialism.)

I might try to head out to Mission Raceway Park (http://www.missionraceway.com/) one of these days. It's the nearest track to my house, and the nearest public one within hundreds of kilometres That'd be a blast.

What with all the newbies claiming to have done 1/4 in 2 secs and uncles car being able to pull 2g on corners and produce 1000bhp from a Fiat 500 engine because he/she knew better than Ferrari...... well the photos prove my veracity :) if it were needed :)

That Lotus 340 looks like it could be a kickass ride ... on the track, don't think it would fare too well on the street (from a safety standpoint) ...just too damn light .. sorry Shaun :D

Well it passes European crash tests.
It's all about design - quality rather than quantity :)
I doubt it gets a high rating mind you :(
I'd still rather been in the Lotus than a 10 year old Volvo !!

Shaker, either you're an Aussie with humour OR you missed the sarcasm OR you've picked up on the wrong thread.

Must be humour - it's been obvious since that team you put out against the English that you're only living life for the laugh :) :) You know it's hell over here now, it's a repeat of 1966 ALL over again :( lol
