The 959 was a show piece of what Porsche technology could do.

At the time it was truly astounding. Now it is a 997 Turbo with a much higher cost to run (engine out to change the plugs).

The F40's rawness will never be captured in a car built in much higher numbers, now it its styling wildness likely to be either.

The 959 is much rarer, but I don't believe it it more desirable (look at the prices they get).

According to the market the Ferrari F40 is the more desirable of the two despite more than 4x as many produced. F40 currently command a premium of 50-80% over a 959.

One more reason, you are never going to see a gathering of Porsche 959s doing this:

Photo/Video Video: Ferrari F40 Mugello Track Event - Ferrari Life (http://www.ferrarilife.com/forums/showthread.php?p=92169#post92169)

roughly 40 F40s full out at Mugello

Probably on the Porsches but most Ferraris only get tracked on private days so most people never see or hear about it.

yes, but how often do tracks have private trackdays? not all that many, in my experience, since they're there to do business and are pretty booked out. in comparison for example the local porsche club gets out atminimum once a month... but their 959 never see's the track, haha.

The F40. I know it's all about personal preference but there's just nothing about that car I don't like. I guess it also helps that it was the first supercar to come along when I started getting interested in cars when I was younger.

+1, it is an incredibly involving car to drive.
