The Valmet Automotive open-air concept is the first five-door sports utility vehicle with a fully automatic power top. Its base car is the Honda CR-V.
The concept car combines the features of the sports utility vehicle and the modern convertible passenger car.
The concept car has a full open top. The automatic latching of the power-operated roof makes the use of the top a one-button operation.
A large trunk space is available both when the top is up and when it is down. With the top up, the raising of the rear glass section of the top stack increases the trunk opening, enabling loading of larger items.
The concept car was unveiled at Geneva Motor Show 1998.
