How do I improve models I bought at the store?

I just bought an F355 Maisto Model, already put together. It was one of those 1/24 scale ones you get already made on the stand. I know how to take it apart, and I was wondering what can I do to make it look realistic? I want to paint the cam covers red, and I know how to do that. I also was wondering if anyone else had any tips.

buy flocking(wherever they sell it?) and make some seatbelts!! Detail the underbody, i guess

I find paper makes good seatbelts (you can paint it and cut it easily)
