I was at CVS and i saw automobile magazine and on the cover were these three cars and i instantly thought: this will be a good poll on UCP.
the viper has 550BHP supercharged the vette has 500 and the GT40 has 510 if i'm not mistaken. both the GT40 and Vette have aluminum frames and runflat tires. this is all i'm pretty sure that i read. which out of the three do you perfer.
btw the article stated that the viper was there first choice then the vette then the GT40

Well I have the article and I remembering reading the Vette placed first. Let me check again;)

btw, they had terrible track times compared to road and track magazine.

for example: Automobile Z06 had a 12.1 quarter and 0-60 4.0
where as R&T Z06 had 11.5 and 3.5

Thats a big difference

You got it all wrong the GT not GT40 has 550hp with a blower. The viper has 505 and the vette has 500. The GT is a nicer car Moter Trend didnt rate them but when car and driver tests ill make sur to post results. Ive seen people who were more pleased with there GT then there vette.

In my opinion I would take the Corvette. It has great performance and a nice interior. I believe that it is faster than Vipers on a track. It also has racing pedigree in the C6-R. A very nice package for relatively cheap and even if the ride is a bit harsh, I could deal with that.

have to agree with sleeky, car guys will stop and check out a vette or a viper, but everyone would stop and look at the gt

GT for me please. It's mid-engined and looks better in my oppinion. And hardly anyone (who doesn't know much about cars) would recognize it. It's definitely rare, Viper's are pretty rare but ever guy has heard of a viper. And corvettes are as common as anything, i wouldn't give a vette a second glance.

The only reason the Viper gets the short end of the stick is because the new gen came out first. The Corvette is only a good deal because they are just now getting to where the Viper was back in '92 as the best deal for the money while the Viper was screwed over by merc. A Vette offered with an auto is not a sports car or exotic. The GT is just over priced revival.

so you are sayin that the Ferrari Enzo is not an exotic car because it is pretty much automatic?(manual without clutch, which is about same as an auto)

Well, actually... honestly an Enzo is just an over priced car that would just about sit in a museum or warehouse because of various reasons.

I take back what I said...

I would want the:
-Vette for performance
-Viper for burnouts and fun
-and GT for night driving and showing off:D(because in black it looks like the batmobile):D

Viper. No traction control, and 500+ ft-lbs on tap. My rule would be that anybody who could launch it, could drive it.

Traction control? It has two (points at feet)

I would pick the Z06. It's got more that enough performance to keep me happy, the first 427 since 1972, it will outhandle the Viper around any track and is a more practical everyday car than the Ford GT. :)

motortrend put it on a dyno and said the Z06 is actually pushing 535hp

the Z06 is not offered with a automatic

everyone wants to say the Z06 is not a supercar because its regular models, i ask then why is the 911 GT2 considered it when a regular corvette can keep up and beat the base 911's, depending on the tracks

GT, only thing wrong with it is leaks when it rains, which isn't really that big of a problem.

The GT is just over priced revival.

The GT is very cheap when you put performance, design, heritage, and materials into play. It can hold its own with cars $50,000-$200,000 more expensive and is made of the same materials. Granted $150,000 is by no means cheap but in the supercar market it is.

the GT delivers at least 50-70 more horses to the ground than the other two, according to motortrend, and i think the mid engine setup would be better for racing, with some better tires on it

Motor Trend tested it at a really high-tech dyno in Colorado, where it was at about 535 hp. The GT was near 600 hp at the same dyno and the Viper near 550.

go to 51s, you can see the traffic cop markign the tyre trakcs of the 'vette.
He clearly had it sideways as he went into the grass verge. Rough grass and mud is worst for getting cars to flip. Unlucky to then hit a truck parked up :(

the corvette's ride isn't any worse than the other two.. plus u can get a brand new z06 for something like $70K... a brand new Ford GT is about $120K... you're left with about $50K upgrade money you can spend on the z06... i guarantee that after you've spent half of that with Lingenfelter Performance Engineering on the twin-turbo upgrade, there isn't a car on the road that is gonna match that z06... 'nuff said...

(well, maybe a bugatti veyron, CGT, or some other exotic that costs like TEN TIMES as much..., so its pretty much settled then, eh)

Like I said before: This means that the driver is an idiot.

BTW, In the newest Road & Track the new Z06 walked all over the Viper Coupe in nearly every category. 0-60 in 3.9  seconds for a starting price of $65,000 is AMAZING. :D

It's in a different class, I'd say, like maybe a hypercar-luxo. It's basically an obscenely fast, obscenely luxurious coupé. It just seems different to me than "proper" supercars...(?)

In fantasy land, I would go for the Ford GT, I think its great looking and the perfomance is pretty incredible. The Vette, for the money, and only in this regard, is more impressive. Kudos to GM for getting the Vette right, its been like 20 years. I think the new Vette, even in "regular stock". is a great car all around.

i kind of like the GT, i love the z06; theyre certainly my favorite american cars; theyre just not my absolute favourite. i like the lotus 7 replicas; i like the cobra. the ariel atom.the caparo t1 is a wet dream to me. i like small light roadsters, preferably mid-engined. i drive a smart roadster. i actually like a lot of cars. but those three the viper, the vette and GT cost way too much money and use too much space and fuel to my taste, and theres no reason i cant have fun in something smaller.ive yet to try a front engined roadster though.ive only tried a 350z. i have the theory that a front engined car creates a bit more understeer and you cant make it spin around its midpoint as u can with a mid engined car
