Spyker Squadron has announced that it will continue its ambitious racing program in 2006 after the Dutch car put in some promising performances in the Le Mans Endurance Series at the Nurburgring and in the season finale in Istanbul.

The final race of the year saw drivers Jeroen Bleekemolen and Donny Crevels running well in the GT2 class before the difficult conditions led to the #85 C8 Spyder GT2R going off track and into the wall but technical director Peter van Erp said the performance up to that point had showed the potential of the car.

"This was our last LMES for the 2005 season," he said. "The car ran perfectly, resulting in a forth place during the third training and a second place during the warming up. The actual race itself on Sunday was challenging due to the bad weather conditions.

"Spyker took the lead in GT2 class with a promising final result in sight. We were driving with newly changed rain tyres and a very promising position as fastest in our class when the car lost its grip, aquaplaned, spun and crashed against the wall. Even so, am satisfied with the progress of the car. We established very fast driving times and managed to surprise all involved with our results."

Spyker has entered a Spyker C8 Spyder GT2R for the two remaining 2005 FIA GT races to be held in Dubai on Friday and Bahrain next week.
