IB4R, are you talking about the original Multipla from the fifties, I would be surprised if that was the case. It looks nice though.
OK, my list would be

Miura
BMW 3200 CS
Citroen DS
Ferrari 330/365 GTC
Fiat 850 Coupe (because we used to own one)

The actual order will depend on the mood of the day.

at some moments of the day I dream of the Alpine A110, but obviously not at all moments, otherwise I would have included it in my list of all time greats, and probably at the expense of the BMW 3200 CS.

to me it seems almost blasphemious to see the 288 GTO and the Miura mentioned together with something disgusting as the Cayenne, and I know it was designed by a Dutchman.

Ya, its fiat, but fiat own ferrari anyway so what does it matter? its all just one big corporation. I prefer to think of the dino as ferrari anyway, fiat seems more of a street car name, think of the multipla, for example. *shivers* :(

IBrake4Rainbows

The 306 GTi-6 was basically a 306 GTi with a 6 speed transmission, sold here in Australia.

Think of it like a 3 door 306, quite pretty.

quite common as well, I thought they had managed to squeeze the V6 in there and never offered it in Europe.

for sure, increased weight on the front wheels and 50% more BHP. It might have similar handling characteristics as the 306 turbodiesel, which could be compatable in weight.

Unless it is made mid-engined, like Renault's Clio V6... but then you remove practicality, defeating the point of a hot hatch...

This is a hard question, I'm not sure that I can have 5 but 10 but i'll try and stay to 5 but I will miss out some beauties.

No order:

Citroen SM- What a beauty and a great engine too.
Alfa Romeo 33-2 Tipo Stradale- Beautiful, lightweight, late 60s supercar.
Ferrari 288 GTO- Fabulous in every way.
Alfa Romeo GTV- Shockingly beautiful
Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing- Perfectly styled.

I have missed out some beauties including the Ford GT40, Lamborghini Miura and Jaguar E-Type, but it was limited to just 5 and I think I made the right choice.

Ooo. Toughy. Let's see.

1. DB7 GT. Hands down, this is one of the most beatifully exucuted cars I've ver seen.
2. Lamborghini Diablo. The title, "legend" is an understatement for this car.
3. Porsche Carrera GT. Pretty obvious there.
4. Ferrari Enzo. Contreversal styling, but hey, I like it, so they must be doing something right. :p
5. Ferrari 308 GT (I think that's what it's called). Niiiiiiiice. Good job ferrari!

I haven't seen everything, and there are quite a few classics that I like. Mostly modern cars are all that's coming to me right now. The 288 GTO is also quite nice. And the murc. AHHH! TOO MANY GREAT CHOICES!! :D

The 4th and 5th cars. Looking sweet next to one another. Taken by 'mwa. :)

3 TVR T350
4 M3 CSL

So many to chose from..

5 SL300 Gullwing

Left out (with pain in my heart):

Porsches in general.. :(:(:(
AMV8
Gallardo
Range Rover (not the restyled one with the perforated grill and stuff, but the clean one), say what you want but the Range looks best in his class, and probably is the most true to his roots..
CLK 55 AMG (or tuned/styled by Brabus, y'know, with the twin foglights, other rims though)
TVR Tuscan 2 Targa (abolutely love that car in that movie Swordfish)

BTW: Why are some people throughout this thread mentioning non-European cars? Uhhh..

Why only 5?
1960 Ferrari 250 GT Spider California (Covered headlights)
1961 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato
195X Fiat 8V Berlinetta Zagato Ellaborata
1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 B Le Mans Speciale by Touring
1936 Bugatti Tipo 57 SC Atlantic Coupé

What I really like is cars from French and Italian coachbuilders from the late 30's, and cars from italian coach builders from the late 50's and early 60's. Altough I left many out, one has to be included as "guest star" and it is the 1950's Pegaso Z-102 Berlinetta Thrill by Touring (which was made in my country ;) ) .

That shouldn't be qualified. Cars from that era is just .... too beautiful and they needn't be mentioned.

After serious consideration, I find that I cant list just 5. Cars from Europe are just epic.

Alfa Romeo GTV Spyder
Ferrari 456 GTA
Volvo 1800 Coupe

I'll add again .... in fact I'm willing to risk violating forum rules to create another user to list some of those beauties.

Again, Porsches are not beautiful, they are in fact quite ugly, but attractive.

Just a correction. It's not GTV Spider but Spider alone. :)

But I meant this one, did I got it wrong? I wouldn't actually nominate 'OLD' cars as I know when a certain trend of styling went completely out-of-style, meaning that the trend is no longer seen in current crops, hence there weren't "Comparisons based on improvements"; the styling cues will go "TIMELESS" and a cult following will emerge.

It's just like people in the 40s will regard style from 30s as ugly and dated, 50s will regard 40s so .. and all the way till the 70s where people will start to think actually styling in the 30s or 40s are 'classy' and nice, but 60s being again, ugly and dated.

Of course this doesn't encapsulate all, there are those that really goes on and on and on. And there are some that's downright ugly. (Try google Toyota Unser)

Ferrer

Yep this one still is the "Spider" alone. Like the current is the Spider too, not the Brera Spider.

You do have a point about nominating old cars. However personally I think that when cars are beautiful they are beautiful regardless of their age. For isntance if you want 90's cars that look good try the F355, the 456GT or the DB7.

These are in no particular order. Most of this is styling, I'm a very visual person. I don't race cars, so performance comparisons aren't as important to me as to some people, however I still feel that performance effects how attractive a car is.

I think my current favorite EU car is the current Mercedes SL styled cars. They are just effing perfect. And this goes from just a few years ago when I thought the only good Mercedes were old ones. They really hit a home run with the styling on the new ones.

The newest 3 series BMW is not bad, its better than the one just previous(E92 is better than E90), but the E46 3 series was another perfect looking car.

Ferrarri 599 GTB Fiorano: For some reason, to me the lines just work perfectly on this Ferrari more than any other. There's plenty of great looking Ferarris (the enzo is not one. The thing that makes it beautiful is that its ugly but purpose-built), but this one just comes together better to me.

Peugot 207. I like these for the same reason I like Mazda. Funky little cars that don't have to pack in a lot of horsepower to be really cool. The 207 is just a little more silly than the 206, which is also a nifty car.

Lotus Exige: once again, doesn't need to have a ton of HP to be cool. When you're looking for outrageous styling, Lotus has made it a way of life. Space aliens, man. But they're still good looking, especially because of nice proportions.
