CT-Could've been better if the fish didn't look so phallic. :p
zeppelin-You won't be able to recreate the nice pic of the pick wedged between strings again. Your photo feels too much like a follow up.
2ndclasscitizne-would've been better had it been in nice focus,
UCR-Eewww! Nasty hair!

how some of these photos get as little or as many votes as they do mystifies me

one day M_P, I'll setup a step-by-step guide on how to judge a photo. Then you would watch the voting turn around dramatically! but its not a photography forum, so you can expect that anyway i guess.

yeah, i dont mean to offend anyone or sound whiney, but some of these photos that win are terrible, and some that only get a few votes are fantastic...its puzzling

indeed it is so annoying. i and cotterik and probably some others were shocked that this photo only got a few votes and that a much easier sunrise picture won..:( to be honest, i just love this picture, and so does everyone i show it to...i was actually very surprised i lost back then...I have sold it to the local photographer. he has printed it and hung it in his shop window recently :)
this is just one example of pictures that should have won, but of which the subject was not good enough :(

Well, at least it's not a tie. For now, anyway. Who knows what will happen in the run-off.

the resize ruined the effect. In the 6MP image the smirnoff bottle and the pony in a bottle is in really shape focus

All down to personal opinion, Col.
Don't forget that Charles Saatchi is currently making a mint out of his art exhibitions. We're talking about a man who views a cow's head nailed to the wall as art.

Ok I'm really getting sick of this. I'm not pointing the finger at one single person, just generally a bunch of people who are too focused on a certain aspect of these photographs, and this is both for this and the automotive photography competition.
Pictures are pictures for a certain reason, because they capture that one moment in a particular point in time, not because someone has more sophisticated camera equipment and manages to take a more technically enhanced picture.
What captures someone's attention is a striking picture, something with a special subject, and technical features are merely a plus.
Please judge the picture on it's content, because not everyone is as well "informed" as the rest .
Let the flaming begin...
