Today I managed to stop by Weissach (http://www.weissach.com), an exotics dealership here in Vancouver. Saw a host of Lamborghinis, many Porsches and RUFs, a few Loti (;)), and (!) a Mercedes 300SL Gullwing!

Just a few things to say:

1) The Murcielago is amazing. A little big, but amazing nonetheless.

2) The Gallardo is much better-looking in reality than in photos. The proportions, for what it is, are nearly perfect. Weissach had three of them, and they had all been sold already.

3) The Lotus Esprit is incredible to behold. Ideal proportions and layout. There were two, one outside in the rain, and one on the showroom floor. The one inside was going for around $120,000, and was a "2003.5", from amongst the very last to come off the production line.

No sign of an Elise yet, not even for media purposes. However, they've apperently taken 38 down payments so far! I have yet to see one of these firsthand.

Next time I go, I'll try to take my digital camera...

I live in Horseshoe Bay.

Weissach is at 1757 West 2nd Ave., near one branch of MCL Motorcars and a couple other high-end dealerships.

Mapquest directions: (I just punched in the 1367-1399 block of 41st Ave.)

That's true, I saw one last week here in Holland and it's much more beautiful than I ever thought of.
The Esprit is slowly becoming one of my favorite cars :D

Yep a georgeous car.
One of my earliest 'dream-cars' :)

Proving the grass-is-greener theory, we returned to the Bagheera parked outside our offices in Glasgow in the late 70s to find a well-dressed man looking in the windows. He waxed lyrical about the looks of the Bagheera and where did we get them and how were they to drive etc etc. After a few minutes I asked what car he owned and he nodded over his shoulder to a new Esprit ! Of course I then drooled all over his :)
He siad "do you fancy a swap" - to this day I wish I'd said yes :)
So we each thought the other car better, I'll bet after a few days the idiosyncrracies of each would have balanced the scores !!

you are lucky "overthere" (im in europe)

Until about 3 months ago, we didnt have a lamborghini (or Bentley and a lot of other exotic brands) dealer in the entire country....
thats thanks to the extremely high taxes.... in denmark a murcielago cost 5.000.000 kroner (about 700-800 thousand US-dollars)

the cars overhere costs about 3 or 4 times as much as in the us.... :(

But i have seen a couple of elise's nearby where i live...

Is that being hit with a local Danish tax ?
There's not that big a discrepancy with the supercars in the UK - top end BMW, Porsche or Merc.
I thought WE were the most expensive in Europe :(

That makes more of us. I always thought that we (the Netherlands) where the most exspensive.

Car are redicilously expensive here (europe) when compared to the US. I guess they US government are not taxing cars and car owners as much as those "wonderfull" people here.

But getting back on track, I recently saw a muc and damn it was beautifull. I have seen a couple of elises and so far that is my dream car (also because it might be somewhat within reach in a couple of years)

Espirits are really nice, a relative of mine has a dark red one. It sounds great at idle and is real fast. Definately one of the best looking cars around.

Denmark is by far the most expencive country in europe (maybe even in the hole world) when it comes to cars....

ive bought a english magazine to check out the prices in the UK... for example a ferrari 360 modena cost about 100k pounds in UK... in denmark it costs 3 million kroner which is about 275k pounds....

another example: a Toyota Avensis 2.0 D-4D cost 15k pounds... in denmark it costs about 350k kroner which is about 30k pounds...!!

I hate the danish govenment... its their fault!!!!

by the way... its very rare you see a expensive sportscar in denmark... only 32 porsches were sold last year.... and only 7 BMW 7-series....

i know denmark is a small country with only 5,3 million people living here, but still..... thats not many expensive cars....

i've only seen 2 Lambos in my life, a Murcielago and a Countach.
i found out that there was a Bently dealer in Indianapolis, but that was within a month of us packing and moving back to Canada, but if i ever go to Vancouver i will look for all the expensive car dealers, and pretend that i am considering to buy one, just for fun :D
