Reliant Robin Mk.1 (1973 - 1981)

Manufactured by the Reliant Motor Company, the Reliant Robin (sometimes incorrectly known as the Robin Reliant) is a small three-wheeled car, also jokingly known as "the plastic pig". This, along with its light weight, allows it to be driven on a motorcycle licence in Britain.

The Reliant Robin Mk.1 was first introduced in November 1973, powered by a water cooled four-cylinder 750cc engine that yielded 23 kW. The vehicle had a complete glass-fibre body attached to a box steel chassis.

In 1975 the Robin received a few minor changes in its body work but the biggest change was that it was now powered by an uprated 850cc engine which increased the power to 29 kW and gave a top speed of 135 kph ( ) with a 0 - 100 kph time of 16.1 seconds. The engine also featured a new SU type carburetor which replaced the old Zenith type.

The Reliant Robin became one of the most famous 3-wheelers in the UK and was produced in its thousands and shipped World wide until 1981 when; in this form, it was replaced by the Reliant Rialto.

They did this backwards. Since it's FWD they should of had 2 wheels on the front and only one is the back since the back in a FWD car does nothing.

I don't know. Just jumped to conclusions. I just now saw the differential under the back. I guess this is the cheapest RWD car you can buy.

my mum used to have one ages ago (she had the model below del-boys!) she was driving along once, strong gust of wind picks the front of the car up and spins it round so its parked backwards in the middle of the road!
