Sorry, but it seems to me that this photograph has been edited after taking, the blur around the car is not possible (to the best of my knowledge) to achieve in the taking of the photograph.

give it a goddam break. Im sick of people ranting and raving about photo's being edited and not edited and blah blah blah. Speedracer38 is a brilliant photographer and ive never doubted his skills. Even if nobody else is as trusting, he trusts me to trust him by allowing the photo to be entered. Therefore unless there is evident reason to do otherwise, the photo will still be entered.

im not ranting, i said his was amazing, but it very much looks as if trueblur (a PP macro program) has been used, when really he probably just had a really shallow DOF

Rules
• The photograph must be the original upload and not edited in any way other than to resize.

Is that enough reason?
I don't see this photograph being the original, and by competition rules this would mean that it's disqualified.

I don't have any doubt in Jason's ability to take stunning pictures, I've seen his work and know what he is capable of. This does NOT make him immune to the competition rules.

How can you prove it's been edited?

How can you prove it's been edited?
I can't, that was in reply to Cotterik's post.

I BELIEVE that it was edited, only in accordance that every bit of the background has been blurred with only exactly the car "in focus", which I don't believe to be an effect achievable within the camera. I'm counting on Jason's honesty to see whether this picture is the exact original or not.

i have to agree with sauc3 on this one, there is very little doubt in my mind that has been edited.

through my schooling of photography i am aware of whats capable by DOF, and i just cant believe that this photo is just a shallow DOF. DOF works by getting progressively sharper and sharper, then gets blured more the further you go back. this just isnt a DOF shot, because all the background is equally blured.. infront and behind the car..

personally i think this photo is stunning, but its just not fitting in the rules.

I'm 90% sure it's been edited. See attachment. Look at the copyright at the bottom-left for the ultimate example. (2 asterisks besides the circle)

i never said he was immune. I'm saying that if he wishes to say that the photo has indeed been edited post-shot then further action can be taken but one thing I'm not willing to do is to get into is another photo editing debate like last time, which left us with a silly photo-edit competition.

rocke im not sure what that proves...?

and i bet we never hear about this from him, and he takes a break from UCP

it think if you're caught doing this it should be lifetime comp ban, its very hard to earn trust back

The attachment is self-explanatory. The circle'd areas show the difference in 'pixelation', most likely where Jason lasso'd and then blurred the background.

Ouch mp, everybody should have second chances.

Maybe 4 weeks off?

Thing is he can still enter the photography edit comp .... or can he?

Another decision to make. You guys decide.

EDIT: FOR ALL OF YOU VIEWING RED X'S IN PLACE OF PHOTOS, PLEASE GO TO TOOLS -> INTERNET OPTIONS -> DELETE FILES.
