Not sure if i like the colour, looks too flat for that type of colour

Ahhh a VE colour there maybe:D.
That colour to me looks like Devil yellow with Fusion mixed with hyper and a touch of orange red going in there. A bit weird:D

Hmm looks pretty cool i wonder what the customizations look like and whats done to the engine? I reckon 19" rims would've made it that much more special and better looking.

Maybe a 300kw special like they did for Peter hamburgers:D

I reckon it looks like a pastel.....like all of Holdens colours lately...

does that mean there are no more for sale or that they are auctioning off the last one produced, even though dealers may have a few?
i ask because i'm wondering if getting one would be a wise investment

fpv_gtho

After Holden announced they wont sell them anymore, they kept making them for HSV, Vauxhall and Pontiac, although i dont know if they made them till a date and just worked off stock

hmm...i guess i could look around soem holden dealerships.
problem is if they depreciate as normal then its not worth it; but i don't know if they'll be worth more in the future.

The first Monaro's had GM faulty engines and tranny's, Ask them and they Quote this (Australians are to fussy).
But the last of the CV8-Z's might be worth something down the track as they would be (Sorry Mitsub:)) Better built better backed then the first:p

fpv_gtho
02-02-2006, 11:17 PM
I have to wonder if the CV8-Z will be worth any more as Holden abuse their special editions like anything. Before the Z they had the CV8-R

I quite like the colour, do I also see CV8-Z black bonnet scoop accents?

SlickHolden

Holden will always offer some special edition to keep sales moving steady, And not just that it's a good value deal most of the time,
And i think some of there best deals have been these Z models everyone wants one.

i see so many VZ monaro's now days, more than series 1-3s, and i love it, they make such a good noise

SlickHolden
02-03-2006, 04:11 AM
Yeah the other night one went past slow and they really do burble out the exhaust:)

2ndclasscitizen

last time i was looking at the holden site i saw an option on the cv8z for a performance exhaust that wasn't road legal due to noise, nice one option holden!

Sounds like an idea they got from the new Elfin's

Unless you plan on never getting your car checked for rego :p

clutch-monkey
02-03-2006, 04:55 AM
so swap back the stock exhaust when you get tested...:D

fpv_gtho
02-03-2006, 05:05 AM
Isnt there some regulation where new cars have a few years before they need to be checked for rego?

nota
02-03-2006, 05:37 AM
^^ Yeah it can be 3 or 5 years depending on which State you're in. Some testers are more 'obliging' than others, I've found. And a few States don't have annual roadworthy checks at all, just when ownership is transfered

My old HZ Kingswood V8 was really loud, I was amazed it kept passing rego. None of my mates needed doorbells when I visited :D When my wife borrowed the Kingo, on quiet nights I could clearly hear it arriving on the highway from over 2kms away

fpv_gtho
02-03-2006, 05:41 AM
That'd give you a few years of fun i suppose then, unless you make a habit of passing RTA inspectors in 2nd at 100km/h on the highway.....

SlickHolden
02-03-2006, 06:37 AM
Unless you plan on never getting your car checked for rego :p
The old VB went from 92 to 2006 and was never once checked:D

Stick it in 6th and go slow past RTA people:p

fpv_gtho
02-03-2006, 06:58 AM
Theres alot of people willing to do an easy check, so long as the cars not going to fall apart on you, but they know that small exhaust leak, or that rattly intake isnt anything to cause serious concern

SlickHolden
02-03-2006, 07:06 AM
I had half the exhuast missing:p

We had to let the old guy go:( The VB got taken away he gone now it had a tear it was the first car i drove on m P's.
I took the battery out of the VP and it started up and flew out the drive and left a mark on the grass to:D.

From memory I think the strict drive-by ADR noise regs were introduced approx 1996-97 (since updated) but they don't apply to older vehicles

SlickHolden
02-03-2006, 07:14 AM
OH thats good cause when we drove it it was a classic for setting off the car alarms:p:p

fpv_gtho
02-03-2006, 07:15 AM
Wouldnt we love it if the government worked off ANDRA's noise reg's....100dB from about 20m away :p

SlickHolden
02-03-2006, 07:20 AM
Yeah:D Some cars i hear going around would be 100db from 100 meters away:p How come the imports allways get heaps louder exhuast's:( No fair:p

fpv_gtho
02-03-2006, 07:29 AM
Well those ANDRA regs are almost useless as you'd be hard pressed to get a car louder than that. I think its more for the audiences safety than any environmental issue :D

Used to own a '65 Buick Riviera GS with the 425cid. The OE exhaust system was four big mufflers plus two resonators on split pipes but I soon ditched that lot for only two small glasspacks (straight through) and MAN what a noise!

I used to park it in the garage of this double brick house, the livingroom was diectly above it. No joke, when I fired up the Buick the exhaust had so much percussion to it that coffee cups would walk across the livingroom table upstairs! :D

Thats gotta be something....Me and my twin brother found out the hard way before christmas what kind of noise goes with things being knocked over...Although i better not elaborate too much as ASIO will try ping me with terrorism...

nota
02-03-2006, 08:03 AM
Yeah, I guess silence is the best policy - or at least the new policy, after those silly drive-by noise regs came in

It still amazes me that new cars now have to be ultra quiet, and if you make 'em louder you'll soon gain the attention of the law. But how come the idiots who put those deafening exhausts on NEW Harleys never seem to get bothered by cops?

You talking bout them things that are nice and legal in Canberra;);)

fpv_gtho
02-03-2006, 07:34 PM
Nah i think theyve made fireworks illegal in canberra....It was something homemade

There must be pretty unique regs for bikes though nota, i know on one of the last bikes my older brother had he had an illegal exhaust on, and he just covered the plate with a sticker that had how loud i was...

:D

Judging by how quiet new H-Ds are ex-factory, I imagine it has less to do with regs, and moreso to those who own them. Eg: 'how obnoxious can I make my Hardley Drivable sound to others'

No matter how loud, there's good notes and awful ones. Personally, if you asked me to explain why these H-D guys get away with it, I can only surmise that the Rebels (who seem the prime culprit locally for hyper-loud new Harleys in Canberra) have also traditionally controlled the market for amphetamines, so I guess they're in kahoots with the cops

fpv_gtho
02-04-2006, 07:30 PM
You probably get into a whole different thing when you talk about Choppers as well, although that market's still pretty small here

That sounds like the cops in Mt Druitt near here :p
