It's not "fast" and for 1985 it was ground breaking styling and THE vehicle to be seen in :D
Modelled after the record breaking French TGV trains !! ( stil doesn't make it "prettty" tho' :) )

This car set off a whole new era. Else we wouldn't have had cars like the Voyager, Touran, Zafira, Galaxy...

In Clarkson's Heaven and Hell DVD he critisizes it because it's not a multi purpose vehicle, it can only carry 7 people, nothing more. So he saws of the roof:) and drives the first 7 seaters convertible for about 100 meters and then it breaks in half, sooo funny:D

Typical JC type action and comment.

Sbarro had already built an Espace Spider in 1997. Pics attached. ( Matt if you can find hi res it would be nice :) ) This was from the French design studio Espera.

The difference was they knew what they were doing and got it right.
JC got some good footage fro TV that some take WAY too seriously :(
One look at the Espace construction and anybody would realise the importance of the top structure :D

He was partially right about the Espace and 7 seats. There was only 32 ft^3 behind the last seat and nothing could be thicker than 2ft :D Was OK for day visiting and shopping but not touring 7-up. That was when the rack came in handy and a roof box fitted. Correctly positioned the roof rack only made 10 mph difference to the top speed and astoundingly only about 5mpg ! That included 120+mph on the German Autobahns :) ( and downhill to get it going :D )
