Hello Guys and girls

Im from England, can't really say sunny, so i will just settle with Damp.

I am after a Falcon XR6 engine + all ancilliarys for a special project that i've got on the go. Was wondering if you guys would be able to help or advise me on where i might be able to find one?
Cheers

I think that might be really hard, Cause I'm not sure but i believe if a Turbo 6 owner wanted a new engine they would need to provide the car and have it replaced i dont think they sell them, Unless your after the 1000+HP one that was made but prices are through the roof for that one.

With the VL Turbo it was easy just grab a turbo and done, But Ford likes to keep things like turbo engines Bonnet bulge's Fog lights separate away from other models that never had them keep the cars more exclusive then:D

Gday :)

I presume the XR6 motor etc you want is recent DOHC (turbo or n/a?) version, not older SOHC or elderly OHV?

Since late 2002 intro the DOHC I-6 has been paired with various transmissions, including M5 or A4, then M6 update and now A6 too. Local reviews glow with praise for the DOHC engines (especially turbo) and particularly when combined with later transmissions

You could get your required bits brand-new, direct from Ford (sourced via dealer I guess, like gorell.com.au, Oz's largest Ford wholesaler). Or of course go used via wreckers etc, as XR6 & XR6-T are very popular models

Another source might be through XR6-T specialist http://www.airpowersystems.com.au/
Their site lists UK dealers, and contains dedicated XR6 sections

One of our UCP members is a Falcon enthusiast, he will know more than me

Perhaps you'd get lucky and find quality advice through fordaustraliaforum.com or fordforums.com.au

Yeah check out APS and also Nizpro and CAPA if they can provide the engine as a crate motor, otherwise:

Wreckers are generally the easiest place to find them though which can probably be found for between $5K and $7K AUD.

eBay is another place to look, but i cant find any DOHC motors currently listed.

www.tradingpost.com.au is another great place to look

Just remember to make sure its DOHC from a BA (2002-2005) model Falcon, as has been said the engines were previously SOHC and theres been no known instances where the cylinder heads have been swapped over.

may as well try Ford Australia as well. What's the project you're working on?

Oops I experienced a bad case of brain-fade. The XR6 model began with SOHC engines as you rightly say, so of course there was no OHV XR6 as I previously & erroneously claimed :o

Thats ok, the XR6 motors have still shared alot in common with the basic engines anyway. Biggest change is usually the cam

It is indeed the DOHC engine that i am after. Will definately try some of the links that you have kindly mentioned.

It is still a ford that the engine will be going in, only something quite a bit older

Was thinking of mating it to the T5 manual gearbox with a straight cut gearset.

Are we going to see a slightly modified Zodiac?:)
BTW I like your user name, it makes me think of the "intro and the outthrow" a famous song from the sixties where the Bonzo Dog Dooda Band introduces its band members and a whole lot of other guest players, including Princess Ann on sousaphone and Roger Morley, guitar....

I wouldnt think theres enough length in the engine bay, although i suppose you'll be able to accomodate a rather unique firewall to fit it in

There will be plenty of room as everything is being moved back to accomodate... The joy of silhouette's!

All i need to do now is find an engine :D
