My only wish is that they were black text.
The double-underlined is bold enough.
The ads help pay for this great free forum.
Click on one occasionally to get UCP a hundredth of a cent :)

um, there are a lot less intrusive ads that still work (see banner ads or column ads). the little red links are not my thing.

RadioTimes in the UK started having ads with real-media inserts - an advertiser trying to make their column more 'interesting'.
If you had 3 windows open then the whole machine went like a dog.
Bad idea, some complaints and they've now made it that after 5 plays it doesn't play real-media clips on your computer.
I've now gone full circle and LIKE pop-up ads.
WHY ? Because I've installed a stopper and they don't get to me :)

I have a google pop-up blocker, works a charm! Sometimes blocks windows i want to come up though.

If it's when you click, then there's usually short-cut to override the block.
On mine it's Shift.
But, yea occasionally you can hear the blocker stop a subsequent window being created.
Again mine is configured to beep when it blocks so I can usually turn it off, click again and then turn it back on.
Your mileage may vary :)

Does UCP get paid form having the ads, from click through, or from purchases made after clicking through?

If the 2nd I'm more than happy to click them occasionally to help support the site.

Agreed, until I pay for subscription :p.
Although I must say that they're having a field day in the Hide-Out Index, which personally peeves me off a fair bit...

The ads. If you take a look at the Hide-Out Index, you'll see that a lot of the manufacturers and several of the links themselves all serve as ads.
