...at how the 2000GT came to be. Part Elan in structure, part E-type in silhouette, part Yamaha in execution but unique nonetheless. An informative comparo with its main inspiration: the E-type.

I've been meaning to share this excellent article but had misplaced the Premier issue of Motor Trend 'Classic' in a stack of AutoWeeks.

Pick up a copy of this new mag. It's clearly a new magazine going in the right direction.

Enjoy! :)

I really love the 2000GT. It looks so great. Adimttedly it isn't as beautiful as the E-Type, but nor is almost every other car made in my opinion.

It's a nice article. It's good to read about the origins of Japan's 1st supercars and how it competes with the Jag.

i wouldn't call it a supercar. the e type wasn't a supercar. supercar is a bit much for it.....

i agree with you but the 2000 gt was alot more expensive than the e type yet the etype looked better

I think at the time, the E-type could be considered a supercar, despite it being so cheap. The GT40 road car was pretty damn cheap and most people consider that a supercar so I don't think the price element is a problem.

what happens when you put the shape of an E-Type and add parts from the Lotus Elan? the result is a Toyota 2000GT, one of my favorite toyotas

It's argualbly one of the most beautifull cars ever to come out of the land of the rising sun.

This is so not like motor trend. to make a simpley written straitforward clean looking magazine...that features forign cars without comparing them to american ones...
