Check the performance of these beasts!!

http://www.elfin.com.au/ms8.htm

Weight is less than 1000Kg for both models, and the drivetrain is nothing less than a 5.7 GenIII 245KW V8!! Supposedly good for 0-100KM in 3.5 seconds for the Clubman (Silver is Track only), the Streamliner (Red) will be registerable in Australia... To begin production at the end of this year.

Welcome the Elfin ;-)

they're going to need a few more weeks to grow on me, the wheels especially aren't my cup of tea

That's quite heavy for something of this styling.
Does anyone know how much the engine/box weighs ?
If they could halve the weight of this they could have a real winner to put Caterham and Westfiel et al to shame !!
I like the styling - it's different.

engine and manual transmission i'd say would easily lob in at or over 500kg, its a Chev LS1 and a Tremec T-56 and although the engine's all alluminium, ive heard the engine/transmission in a Jag S Type R is about 650kg

Ouch. I like complete cars that weigh less :)
With that weight, it'll be a challenge to make a light car that can handle.
That's a large CoG and difficult to spread !!!
Sounds like another "good in a straight line" vehicle then :) :) :)

well Jag S Type R's are 1800kg all up so it balances up alright and the commodores that the V8/6 speed's stuck in vary from 1600 to 1700 kg but on these Elfin's they've got the flexibility i guess to push the engine as far back as possible to even it out a bit
