I found this (http://www.newbaybridge.org/classroom/engineeringfor.html) when I was researching about our new bridge. I can only build a bridge that can lasts a 8.5 earthquake, let's see if any of you can get 9.0. :)

i have so far reached a minimum damage at 8.2 any higher and its done with the bridge :D this is a really cool toy :p

edit: using a suspenion-beam girder-beam girder combination i achieved 8.5 too. at 9.0 there was major damage at 8.5 none.

i also got 8.2.. -.-

I got 8.5, but was way off 9.0

8.5...but wasn't too far off. it didn't collapse. I'll keep you informed :p

I managed a bridge which withstood 8.5, I'm proud :p.

Survived 8.5 okay, but 9.0 raped it. Back to the drawing board...

i got 8.5 too. i think its impossible to get a 9

hmm my bridhe hasn't collaspsed im i doing this correctly you keep on testing it until it breaks or sumin like that?

edit it just realised ui click on the magnitude:p wow

yeay i did it 9.0 and 8.0 from Hayward:)

How many time can yr bridge widstand the 9.0?

8.5 is the max any bridge could survive, that I tried so far. No wonder, as a 9.0 earthquake is approximately 30 times more powerful than a 8.0. Possibly a floating bridge might have a better chance of survival, as it won't be jolted directly, the transition areas between floating and on-land will be the weak point.

Richter TNT for Seismic Example
Magnitude-- Energy Yield (approximate)

-1.5-- 6 ounces Breaking a rock on a lab table
1.0-- 30 pounds Large Blast at a Construction Site
1.5-- 320 pounds
2.0-- 1 ton Large Quarry or Mine Blast
2.5-- 4.6 tons
3.0-- 29 tons
3.5-- 73 tons
4.0-- 1,000 tons Small Nuclear Weapon
4.5-- 5,100 tons Average Tornado (total energy)
5.0-- 32,000 tons
5.5-- 80,000 tons Little Skull Mtn., NV Quake, 1992
6.0-- 1 million tons Double Spring Flat, NV Quake, 1994
6.5-- 5 million tons Northridge, CA Quake, 1994
7.0-- 32 million tons Hyogo-Ken Nanbu, Japan Quake, 1995; Largest Thermonuclear Weapon
7.5-- 160 million tons Landers, CA Quake, 1992
8.0-- 1 billion tons San Francisco, CA Quake, 1906
8.5-- 5 billion tons Anchorage, AK Quake, 1964
9.0-- 32 billion tons Chilean Quake, 1960
10.0-- 1 trillion tons (San-Andreas type fault circling Earth)
12.0-- 160 trillion tons (Fault Earth in half through center,
OR Earth's daily receipt of solar energy)

Which combination survived a 9.0?

a full beam girder bridge with 3 safety features withstood 9.0 san andreas fault 4 out of 6 or 7 times i tried.

I got an 8.5 with a cable stayed bridge with maxed safety features. Cool find by the way. ;)

ah, he is right. i find it odd that it doesnt have the same result each time though. I mean, if everything is the same each time (which is possible here b/c its a game) how come you get different outcomes?

It is possible to have a cable stay mixed w/ the full beam withstand. but not as often it seems.

i was thinkin that too, maybe its a bug in the game.

Hey guys I found a glitch, if you click on "Test It!" continuously and let it go, your bridge will become invincible!! LOL!! :D :D :D

Btw, only test a bridge once because if you keep testing it without rebuilding, it would become invincible too. :D

I got it to 9.0 now :p

yhea he is right it broke the first time then the last section on the bridge broke the second time and the last 10 times were all undamadged
