View Full Version : Audi S3 spied

Powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with around 270bhp like all performance Audi’s it’ll feature quattro four-wheel-drive. The rather discreet styling is typical of the S models - only the more prominent grille and blistered wheelarches highlighting its potential. It’s unlikely that the performance A3 line-up will end with the S3 though as there are rumours of a hotter model with turbocharged version of VAG’s 3.2-litre V6 engine. It’d produce in excess of 300bhp and will wear Audi’s RS badge.

This reeks of informed 'accidental' unveiling.

Painting their car BRIGHT YELLOW to do snow testing? puhlease, they were hoping someone would find it.

Yea, but there were a few other cars also in the shots with the 3. I remember the S6 was there too, and the Avant model.

If they ever made it is there even the slightest possibility it might make it to the US since the A3 was finally released here?

I thought only the 4 door wagon A3 made it to the US, not the 2 door wagon. Not sure if I'm right though.

They're normal Audi A3 wheels that have been sprayed darker.

Meh im not convinced the S4 had much greater differences than the A4 so the S3 should be more sporty looking.......

260 HP turbo ...the regular A3 V6 3.2 has 250 HP and AWD also, I don't see much difference. Plus the 3.2 V6 is probably torquier. I was hopping for something more for the S3. :(

Pfft, not a VAG car :p

Well, two can play at that game.

Then there was an RS6 Plus. Still got a hatchback. Still VAG. Old, but fast :p

Maybe only 260bhp, but certainly less nose heavy, taz.

And probably less heavy overall, making the power-to-weight better.

4cylinder Alfa sound very good indeed, but have you a heard the Busso V6? That's a proper sounding engine... ;)

Busso?

You mean Lusso...?

I love Alfa's 3.2 and 3.0 V6's... they sound amazing! The Ford 2.5 Duratec V6 is a bit of alright, too.

Busso V6 = Arese V6 = one of the best looking engines in the world. This engine is sometimes referred as the Busso (engineer who designed it) or Arese (where Alfa Romeo is located, just outside Milan). It was first used in 1979 in the Alfa 6, and ended production this year, so that's a 27 year run. It was available from the facotry with 2.5, 3 and 3.2-litre configurations, and through it's life it underwent a lot of changes (catalysators, 4-valve heads). British company Autodelta also offered it in 3.3, 3.5 and 3.7-litre guises, and even some were equipped with supercharhger, producing up to 400bhp.
