Today was Canberra's Auto Italia motor show. There was plenty of spectacular Italian machines, both old and new. Italian bikes had a strong presence, from 50cc Vespas to 1000cc Ducatis. Lots of beautiful old Alfas and Fiats, and a good showing from Ferrari and Lamborghini, with a Gallardo SE, plenty of Countachs and Espadas, a 246 Dino GT (that the very nice owner was letting people sit in :D), a 308 GTB, though strangely the owner didn't have a moustache :p. All over, a great show. Sorry IB4R. 100+ pics to come.

I know an AMV8 Vantage isn't Italian, but it was in the carpark and I didn't get a shot of it at the Shannon's show the other week. The onwer of the silver Montreal was revved the nuts of it every now and then, you could hear it everywhere :D, though when we went closer to it when he was revving it, there were large plumes of smoke coming out of the exhaust

Si senor coz Sei = six. IIRC their engines share design influence from Honda's original multi-cyl CBs, eg 500-Four & 750. Benelli also made a 6cyl 900cc version while Honda retailiated with the unforgettably dreadful CBX 6cyl

I also went to Autol Italia but it was so packed out I could barely get any clear pics

i thought as much. Me and my sister got there about 10.25 and it was already chockers, and by the time we left about 11.30 the parked cars on Morshead drive were up to the Kings Av/Russell Roundabout

Again, I know a Merc Convertible isn't Italian, but it was in the car park and it looked very good

In pic #6, what is that car next to the Lancia? It looks like a 4-door, but those are definitely Ferrari wheels. Is it a Lancia Thema 8.32?

not sure, there were a shit load of Lancias, but I don't know them that well, and I was mighty distracted by the collection of Integrales

 I trust you won't mind if I post up some of my miserable pics of the same event?

Fiats: a sexy convertible circa 1962, this nifty Arbath looked more appealing in the metal than pics portray, and 'well developed' 124 bonnet

Who runs the event? Is there a website or anything?

Nice pics btw.

Could be, wheels are correct for Thema 8.32.

I suppose there are certain standards for events like this, so they won't accept ordinary Lancias with flashy Ferrari wheels.

2ndclasscitizen and nota, great pictures :)

Best I can do

Lancia was once a popular sight on Australian roads and they were the honoured marque at this year's event. I'm not sure if this fact still holds true but not too many years ago there were more pre-WW2 Lancias existing in Oz than in the rest of the world combined! Car of the show was touted as a magnificent WW2-era Astura convertible sedan, unfortunately no pic

Last snaps of mine a wonderful Lancia sports. Next some Italian oldies a Ceirano and two of the many Lancia Lambdas on show. I'm an unashamed admirer of this model. The black one was prettiest car of the event imho - just look at the 'lightness' present in its advanced design. To bring an end of my pics (somewhat fittingly) is this big SCAT
