Ok, I'm about to ask a question that i figure I should know the answer to but I don't. I know that there are a total of 14 different versions of the Porsche 911 in the world, 13 in the U.S.(minus the RS). But my question is this, what is the difference from a regular 911 and a 996? Is it a suspension package? Aero or visual package or both? Any answers would be appreciated, thank you.

I thought 996 was the internal name for the "911 branded" product. I believe 993 was the previous range.

Yes, 996 is the present generation 911 and 993 was the one before.
There are a lot of different versions of the 996 like the Carrera, Carrera 4, 4S,Turbo, GT3, GT2, Targa

So, just so I'm clear on this, you say that the 993, 996 etc. is a generational body style of the 911? Comparable to say the C1-C5 Corvettes, and the E36 3-Series?
