I'm watching Top Gear again on the Discovery Channel ( the episode with the Murcielago vs. Mitsu Evo 8, and the VW Golf struck by lightning) here in New York, and I'm thinking to myself... I really like the music they're playing on it... so anybody have any idea whether Top Gear puts out any music CD's or even a tracklist of any sort? I'd actually spend the time (a bit less $ though) to get a hold of some of those gems...

thanks very much!

go to the finalgear.com forums. They have a whole section that's got all the music (that people have figured out) listed for each episode, with the time as well

The only one I can remember exactly is, in the episode where they test the cars in Iceland, is Sigur Ros. First (self-titled) track off of the Von album.

I also know they used a Kasabian song in one episode. That's all I've got right now lol.

As 2CC says, anything you want to know about any of the episodes is probably on the forums at finalgear.com. Handy site for Top Gear/5th Gear knowledge.

Like the "spin" on them using American presenters.
Jeremy wasn't pleased with the restrictions on what he could say for the dubbed old episodes :D
Pretty sure he'll have told them to stuff it in his usual style !!!!!

IF they try copying it and DON'T manage to keep in the ascerbic wit then it'll be a pale shadow and wont' attract the audiences :( Top Gear of 10 yeras ago style --- dull and boring ( if a lot more informative :) )

I'm kind of thinking the Office right now :(

There hardly likely to badmouth their new program.

and I would have loved to have been there when they told Jeremy his comments would be 'edited'. I'm sure I'd have learnt many new swear words :p

Twain Norman wrote/played the TG theme song.

The "Montars of 2006" was featured with "Do you want to?", by Franz Ferdinand.

A bit of "Four to the floor" by Starsailor made it's way in the SLR video.

Then in the BMW-dominated episode back in 2003 (when the Stig "died"), there were two songs from his tribute. One had the lines:
"Seasons don't feel the rainbows, nor do the wind some of the rain." and "Feel the rainbow take my hand" but I can't find them on google.

The other one was played by Peter Cetera, called "If you leave me now."

I knew a lot of others but these are the only ones I can think of right now.

In the DB5 vs. E-type episode there is a song performed by Cinematic Orchestra. Don't remember the title though.

Yeah - the whole point about the Office was that the actors were brand new; they weren't huge Hollywood hotshots and you didn't know who they were. Unforutnatley the American producers think they can put an American twist onto anything and still make it funny. It doesn't work like that. Thank god they never got hold of Monty Python or Faulty Towers. Undoubtedly the new Top Gear will turn into Pimp My Ride and every other sentence is "Has dayt thang got a Hemi?"

Season 7, Episode 1, in the 3 car test of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, BMW M6 and the Porsche 997, at the "Biblically fast" section of the M6, at 48 minutes and 30 seconds in, Faithless - Tarantula (Reperspective Album) is playing.
Right after that, 48 minutes and 55 seconds in, right as the 997 appears, Faithless - Bring My Family Back (Sunday 8PM Album) comes on.

It'd be awesome if they'd put out an album with like the season's top requested songs from the show... hmmm, maybe if they get enough email about it... but fellas, thanks for all the advice!

btw, the american top gear sucks major ass, they're so far beind from the UK version is not even funny... if im correct they only re-did a few episodes for America...

Actually, they did. It was even worse than the American Red Dwarf.

Yeah, it was called "Star Trek" or something like that. They totally missed the humour of it though.

The American version of TG will probably be lame, the whole reason I like it is because of the British humour. Why can't we just get the original version over here, untainted.

Because you'll get the rednecks thinking 'well if that thing don't have a V8 I don't care. and why is the english man makin' fun of me?"

Conservative audiences.....

ROFLMAO :D

I didn't catch the American series of Red Dwarf, but I can't imagine it being any worse than series 7 and 8 :)

IBrake4Rainbows

Series 7 and 8 weren't TOO bad (Relative concept, here)

I've not seen the American one, I can only imagine it was so heinous that it was placed in a lead vault and chucked into a volcano.

Mr. Flibble would be VERY cross.

There are Top Gear CD's...

But I think that it's just music they think is good for driving...not music that is used in the shows.
