My brothers former autoshop teacher in highschool is like a super exclusive porsche (and also privatly works on other cars) go-to autorepair guy, whoes job is to: no matter what time it is, he gets a phone call from porsche, imediatly gets on a plane to wherever, and fixes hella nice porsches. Nice job huh. Well anyway.... he happens to be good friends with BIll Gates, because he owns a bunch of porsches and whatnot and he likes him to work on them, and one day he needed his porsche 959 fixed :D. So he fixed it, had some fun, and for SOME reason gave bro has a bunch a super highres pics of him riding around in the 959... :D. Cool story (at lease I think so).

Not really.
I think it's more of a 4WD 911 Turbo predecessor than anything else.
GT2 RS wasn't 4WD.
Edit- Forgot that early Turbos weren't 4WD.
So maybe you're correct?
How much of the 959 was based on the then current 911?
I would say it's more of a Carrera GT predecessor then- no expense was spared to make it fast.

i think you were right with your first guess - use of a lot of high tech stuff, awd etc, and still comfortable inside.
GT2/RS is alot simpler and raw. funnily enough the RS is.. the precursor to the GT2RS lol

It was kinda the precurser to the 4WD turbos, except that when the 4WD turbos appeared they had a much simpler 4WD system. Other than that it was really just an engineering exercise and image generator.

The 959 is the first of the Porsche supercars. So that includes the 911 GT1 Strassenversion and the Porsche Carrera GT. And all of them were related to racing. And yes, the driver in #25 is indeed Walter Rohrl.
