That's on a public road ? What a moron. It must be so hard to go flat out in a straight line

^^ have you been 250kph in a standard suspension car? it is actually quite difficult.

LOL @ the speed reminder beeping in the car, who ended up winning? i couldnt see too well.

Looked like all the way side by side? Maybe they should have had the car behind a faster one:p

My dad claims hes been 200 in a VN...and subsequently caught wildife on the aerial. Said it was all over the road.

In comparison, the M3 sits pretty good at 220...

He is brave i wouldn't do that in a VN:D
I popped a 145 in the VB was beautiful, In the VP i do notice that they can be moved by high winds, But i have herd rumours of commodores hitting a speed above 220 and hitting a cone of silence and just nothing no wind sounds wired?.

Could be something related to the friction of wind travelling at 220km etc...who knows. If theirs any truth to it, it'd be common across most cars you would think..

I wont be doing anymore high speeds till the tail-shaft is done:( No hard take offs:( No fast overtaking:( No speeds on the freeways:( But i will hope that after it's done new tranny new tail-shaft will feel good and well balanced like new. I wouldn't mind a rebuilt diff maybe a LSD with same 3.08 better traction:).

I got an indicated 212 in a tired VN V6 from Budget rentacar :D the trick is to ease up on the throttle as they won't upshift into 4th on WOT. The example I drove had a mildly collapsed front end (NT plates) and was not overly stable even at 100km/h

Saw a sustained 6200rpm in top gear from my HDT VK Group A (approx 240+) with no engine noise to be heard above 200 km/h - just the wind roaring over the roof

i didnt notice anything at 220... just engine noise. prolly so focused i blocked everything but that noise out. only one that matters at that speed :p

I think the VL's couldve been better at the double ton runs. Whether that was from a combination a better refined engine, or a balanced chassis (surely theres no opposition to the VN having an awful chassis).

RRP was $21,950 and you're right, prices are still climbing and buyers pay more (sometimes considerably more) for them today

Recently this exceptional unit went for $57k
http://www.drive.com.au/editorial/ArticleDetail.aspx?ArticleID=5777

I got a great deal on mine and paid just on $21,500 drive-away, no trade. This price included approx $2500 of OE Holden/HDT options. Comprehensive insurance was another $1k and the 3" Lukey-HDT exhaust (ADR illegal so a retrofit-uprgade) cost me $250-odd at wholesale 'mates rates' :)

In those days $21k was less than others paid for new fwd Celicas and you know much they're worth today!
