German magazine 'Spiegel' had an article about the new 911 and SL competetor, the Audi R8. According to the Spiegel, Audi spends around 28 million Euro on developing the supercar.

just for your information it wont be a supercar. It will fall into the class in which the Merc. SL and porsche 911 falls too. They will built several thousands a year according to the article.

In those spheres, in those itself cars like the Porsche 911 or the Mercedes SL tummeln, AUDI has to offer to so far nothing. That will change in the coming year: In the middle of 2007 is to roll the sports car R8 on the road. The manufacturing plants are furnished straight. There are not photos of the future sports car naturally yet. AUDI would like to increase the tension and the curiosity by the Geheimniskraemerei to the car. For a long time it is no longer up to the conception of the sport model beginning next yearly and up to the distribution of the first copies, which is intended for the summer 2007. At present Quattro GmbH run in Neckarsulm the preparations for the R8-Fertigung with the AUDI daughter; the investment volume amounts to approximately 28 million euro. At present one particularly for the R8-Herstellung converted resounds on the Quattro area for a "innovative small-batch manufacturing" garnished, says Albrecht Reimold, which leads planning for the R8-Montage. Until the substantial plants are to be installed for at the end of of July, afterwards so-called pilot lot production is to start gradually. "the R8-Fertigung is a pure manufaktur", says Quattro boss Werner Frowein. Here about 250 coworkers per year are to build "several thousand" R8-Modelle. The R8 is painted later - together with the all wheel racer Lamborghini Gallardo and the sedan AUDI A8 in the paint shop of the Neckarsulmer manufacturing plant. AUDI emphasizes that the new model will stand out by lightweight construction, all wheel technology and a special Design against its competitors. The study Le Mans Quattro, with which AUDI brought and publicly presented its sports car plans for the first time into a form, actually offered some rapid surprises anyhow compared with well-known models. In one year we know whether it remained thereby.

I'm very this car is going to be closer to the 911's production number rather the Gallardo's.

What's the expected price for one of these again?

Since it has got to compete with the SL and 911, expect that price range else it wont be much competition...

Are they still going to build the Nuvorali??? That is a reall good idea for a car a 2+2 coupe/GT and the Le Mans from what ive read is that will get a selection of engines making it more widely competetive in the market.

Except mid-engined and V8, its the Le Mans concept, minus the Twin turbo V10 :(

I wonder if Audi could think of doing an optional model?

That engine would really ake the car a BRUTE! a seperate model? i doubt it. the feasability costs to adapt a Bigger engine would be extraordinary... not to mention that if they didint take the V10 in the first place, they certainly wont make it a secondary model...
