Sorry if this thread seems a bit sparse on info, but I was completely taken aback when I heard there will be an A5, and thought I should share.

A few random pictures via our friend google, test mules, and as ever, the artists impressions we so heavily rely on!!!

The Silver Coupe rendition looks very much like the Nuvolari concept. A very good thing. :)

Right here we have the Audi A1 (in blue)

Or...what it might/could/probably will look like

Expected in 2010 though, so long wait:D . Will have a VW twin-turbo charged engine, 3 doors and with a diesel

Its competition: THE MINI:D :D (hence the merge of mini and audi in the 2nd pic)

Audi will also do an S1 version to compete with the Cooper S. The S1 would get 240-hp, 2.0-liter turbo,:D

Both pics are scans by the way

As far as I know it isn't confired yet. In any case it would sat in a convetional Polo platform and wouldn't have the high-tech aluminium spaceframe the A2 has.

Ye definatly not confirmed yet but certainly on the drawing board, I have heard that Audis' "HIGH" people are all in conflict on over it would or would not be a success. But personally, I think it would be good to see a bit of competition for the Mini, shame though, that if it gets the green light, wont see it until 2009/10

Maybe the next small Lancia hatchback will give us a surprise...;)

I like the idea of this more than the A2, I suppose probably because this is more sporty. It would def give the mini a run for its money.

Well they were talking about bringing in the standard A1 at £13,995 basic OTR, that compared to a basic Mini (One(D)) seems like a lot. Plus there are a lot of different Minis out now, what with the John Cooper Works tuning and the GP, plus the park lane, seven and chequered flag, models bla bla etc etc. They would need to have a real think about it before going ahead, people are liking the Minis a lot, with the 300-odd possible combinations with colour exterior/interior and choice of wheels.

I do like Minis, but for me they are too common as the 'nice small hatch' car. This Audi would provide a bit of variety.

Spot on Tom, customization is the key on this market.

Your right to say they 'are too common' but they are becoming the most popular cars in the World. They churn out more than 700 'custom' made Minis a day in Oxford. I say 'custom' because of the number of different varities u can get. And also there are new Minis on the drawing board, whether they get produced is another thing, but there is the Mini Moko, Mini traveller etc, these would help diversify Mini, and make them that bit better. Perhaps the A1 should take a leaf out of BMWs shoes and offer customisation e.g. hundreds of different combinations of colours, fabrics and wheels + why not even go for the roof, bonnet, wing mirror decals, or is too much of a copy cat?:D Wouldnt be a bad idea, as competing with the Mini wont be an easy task.

And if you havent noticed, Im a big Mini fan:D

the V8 FSI would suit it, i was merely perpetuating the S6's poor attempt at M5 challenge.(some might say it wasnt aimed at the M5 (the rs4 was they might say) however why the V10? etc.)

Neither the RS4 nor the S6 are aimed to the M5, that'll be the job of a future RS6.

EDIT Pics, including S5 ones...

Howcome on the A5 pics the controls for the MMI are on the dashboard but in the S5 they're where they are in the A6, A8 & Q7, on the centre console behind the gear stick?

Massive leakage by Audi

I doubt that very much.

It seems every major concept and production car over the last several months has had information "leak" before the official launch.

Are the general populace going to be greatly excited by a new Audi?

Probably not; but if they think that it is "secret" information that they are allegedly not supposed to see, they will more than likely take a look.

This pics were hosted in Audi's German site, but apparently they weren't on the site. Wheter they made that on purpose or not, I don't know.

I see that Audi have also tweaked the interiors on the A3 & A4 range, new radio systems that keep in with the current Audi design for the rest of the range with MMI and also on the A3 they've tweaked the door trim a little too.

Audis are absolutely gorgeous. I would love them. I have said this before though, that grille has got to be one of the most ridiculous design mistakes I have ever seen. To me, the grille ruins the entire brand for me. I very seriously could not get past that grille if I were to be thinking of buying one. Other than that, I think every single car the company makes is slick as hell (maybe not the TT - and the jury's out on the Q7).

A5 TDI coming to Europe. (http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2008/11/audi-a5-coupe-with-53mpg-20-tdi.html)

Interesting that the quattro decreases mileage so much. I would imagine such a decrease is due to more than increased mass?

That and increased drivetrain ineffeciency because of 4wd
