Beta 2 is out now, and Microsoft is letting everybody to download it for free, just click here (http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/beta/getthebeta.mspx) to download it. You do need to get a Windows Live ID if you don't have one, it's just MSN ID with a different name. There isn't a faster and safer download, and by the way, use Internet Explorer whenever you're at microsoft.com. :)

It's running damn fine, and it works way better than Office 2003 once you've gotten used to the new layout, which is pretty neat. :)

I never DL beta stuff. It's in testing so it's prone to have loads of bugs.

Beta 1 barely had any bugs, I've been using it for my school works since it came out. Beta 2 is even better. :)

yep ... that's why they are called "Beta" -- if it had all that stuff it woudl be a proper release :D

or did you get a pre-release of the Vista tool ? it was kicking around MSDN before they went official :D If you got one of those there's no guarantee it even gave the right answer :D

I've got beta one and it's pretty ace. Can't really see much wrong with it, can't see much point in acquiring the new one as such. Anyone wanna explain the difference?

Well, i downloaded it and it is quite flash. Seems stable enough, spose i wont know untill i have used it a few tens of times. I did go rather crazy though.
Downloaded Konfabulator, which is a program that lets you run loads of programs on your desktop.
A Vista theme so its all pimped out, including a program to make the taskbar semi-transparent.
Here are a few screenshots. First one is Office 2007, second is once i had installed the theme and the last one is the current state of play.

Yeah i mentioned it before but that was downloading it from torrents etc or other methods im shocked that microsoft are doing this.

I tried to download new internet explorer and seeing as ive had office and Media player i thought i would be fine installing it just extracting it and doing the individual ones would work but no validation needed :(

Any one have a route how to get around Explorer instaltion?

I use firefox but aparently theyve copied it all so im intrueged as to what it looks like. WMP kicks ass.:p

As in when you instal the new Explorer it asks for validation the way to get round it with office and WMP was expanding the installation and installing certain smaller exes which had the actual programs....

I found the best software to download that will make your computer look just like the new windows vista operating system. It was actualy developed by windows to my understanding, I was amazed at the difference it made. I dont think I will even bother with downloading the actual windows vista beta when it becomes avalible. I also downloaded the new Office 2007 Beta, the windows media player 11, and Internet explorer 7.

This is a link to the Vista site

I second that, sure it's a little more resource hogging than the old ones, but it does seem to have better stability and more eye-candies. :)

It took me a couple of weeks to get used to it. It's alot better than Office 2003.

looks a bit unconventional to me. doesnt look like any less easy to use than office xp.

The only part that isn't so easy is getting used to the tabs. Once you're in the right tab, everything is right in front of you - making it alot easier than 2003.

It does take some time to get used to, but like Adrenaline said, the tabs are sorted out quite nicely and once you get used to it it'll be the most convenient typing tool you've ever used. :)

Microsoft actually made a decent product for once. :D

Been using the beta for a year and chucked the full official release on last week. So far the difference has been not noticable.
