Whats the most recent new on the ford GT? Most people probably know it as the GT40 but they had to change the name because some copywrite problems. Im nut much of a fan of american cars but I did like this one. So if anyones heard anything about if theyre gonna put it in production or not that'd be cool.

"...The new supercar will be called "Ford GT" — the same name given to the first GT40 prototypes in 1964 — and regular limited production will begin in 2004..."

I agree motormanic. This will be very rare indeed. I am soo jealous of my friend who saw this car in person, in Detroit, had dinner with Bill ford and his uncle has a Mk II prototype in the process fo being restored. grrrrrr.....

150?? man they went down really DOWN - ford intended to built 400 - my god they really dying or what - but anyway if its lesser its better and jay mays has done a good job with the car though in terms of the retroness but performance wise could ford do something better or not??

updated info:

I attended the Ford Centennial Celebrations in Dearborn on June 14-15, where they had the official release of 3 of the production models. John Colletti clearly stated during his introduction that the approximate price will be $150,000 and they intend on producing 1500 of them. I was directly in front of the stage taking pictures of him while he said this. check out some of my pics on the Ford GT page: http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/frame.mv?file=car.mv&num=1689

I find the greatest irony here.
Thjis AMERICAN car has been benchmarked against and designed to BEAT a Ferrari modena for less money. It outhandles, outaccelerates, and overcomes hte modena in top speed, or is claimed to. According to roadtests of the prototypes with 100 less BHP and unfinalized matterials. this car will likely achieve that objective. In other words, it seems an american car has beaten or will beat the precious European Ferrari.
So much for inferior technology.
