You guys hit the nail on the head, as far as I can see...

Those are media pictures. I might as well say I have a 997 911 Turbo and then post spy shots :)

well the two first pics are of the same car that was ownd by an antti the first is from eurocarshow in helsinki and the second from an tuning magazine in finland called gti-magazine.
I think antti sold the car but not to an 19year old and theres only one cosworth escort witch is of that quality in finland and i know that theinterior looks diferent(more rally look). so cep dreamning dud. And bye the way the cars performance isnt 550bhp@7900rpm its (after changing the engin tree times) 600bhp@7000rpm
(i will post the dyno chart and the interior when i get my digital camer working) and heres the pic of the gti magazine where antti had his car.

It's worth checking the dates and number of posts from users in threads.
THis guy posted 2 entries - both in this thread.
His claim and then his angry one.
Never been back since March - his joing Month.
SOooooo, he either got upset at being caught out so quickly or got pissed off at our "prove it attitude" here on UCP :)
Either way, an old post, an old thread, and old member - RIP :)

Preahps we should clearly mar threads that have been inactive for a month and automatically freaze them after 6 months of inactivity...and have then unfrozens by mods upon requeast....just an idea...i know its the wrong place...

Not sure if this WAS aimed at falcom.

if it was, then you need to be here longer to encounter the resurrected-thread-pain :)
It's a pain when a thread resurfaces where the whole point of the thread is over.
Some of us see these things 2 or 3 times and nothing new added.

It helps in UCP to read a thread to the end before responding to an individual posts.
I can't count the number of times I've deleted a reply post when I read another reply which either answered the question or ended the debate !!
Just some sage advice from the "auld guy" of UCP :)
Welcom aboard.

oh and as you see from my first sentence, calling someone a dik without a name or explanation is fairly pointless :) :)

Hi

I have just found this forum and found this thread amusing enough to want to sign up :-)

I have been playing with cars for over 30 years and the balls**t hasn't changed, only the BHP claims have skyrocketed!

All the BS stops when the staging lights turn green :-)

Anyway, the point of this message is to look for help with choosing a clutch. I am in the process of fitting a 520bhp Cosworth lump into my 1967 Lotus Elan (honest!). Among the many problems in keeping the car road legal and road usable is the choice of clutch. I plan to use it for drag, sprint and hill climbing, but the clutch needs to be optimised for 1/4 mile but allow the wife to be able to drive it on the road (deal I made to stay alive!).

Any ideas?

Steve

Firstly you must be ****ing crazy to let your wife drive if you were to get that finished
secondly why 1/4's get it on a tarmac rally championship :)
thirdly, go and ask matra et alpine about clutch :p

Ah, but she is a rare breed, a female petrolhead.

Her main reason for wantng to drive it is to shut up the poser at work with a TT :-) So as long as she can push the clutch down :-)

I will check them out, thanks.

Also, not at all suitable for rough stuff, it would fall apart!

Matra et Alpine
08-15-2005, 02:56 PM
C_E ....

Hmm a clutch small enough to fit in the Elan space is going to be so small it will need high pressure diapragm. You're wife is going to need some strong thighs to press the pedal !!!

What are you doing with the diff ? Unless you put a fairly sold LSD in you'll lift a rear wheel and go nowhere. There's not a lot of weight in the back of an Elan.

I'd be VERY wary of putting the torque from somenthing that big along the chass of an Elan. They're not that stiff to start with ! Do you have a Spyder replacement chassis ? If not, I'd get some serious advice from Lotus specialists. Pulling starts with THAT amount of power/torque if going to put huge twists into the chassis - it's narrow and you'll have problems.

What gearbox are you planing using ??

PS: Please add an approximate location in your profile. If you are UK based we can talk about some suppliers and clubs who can help and advise. THAT is why UCP has a location in the profile :)
