According to my Canadian fuel economy guide, the Prius achieves 64mpg, while the Insight achieves 88mpg.

Anyway, I really like the Prius too. I don't think it's a matter of competition. They're different cars, designed for different environments and applications. Both are awesome.

Neither one of them is wrong... They're both determined by different tests... keep in mind that this is measured in metric gallons (in mpg), and that it was the statistic for the original Prius. I was actually wrong about the Prius stats...it actually says it gets 60 highway mpg, while the Insight gets 88 highway mpg. This is from the 2002 Energuide report.

Trust me, Canada's national fuel economy guide isn't "wrong"...

The Insight is aimed at the person who lives by themself and is not going to cart alot of people around. The Prius is aimed at the thinking family, wanting room but not wanting to pollute.

oh thats canadian..... and the prius was made for city use so it gets more MPG in the city. Even if the insight gets more MPG Consumer reports said "The insight's suspension is stiff leaving for a bumpy ride and there is a lot of noise ad a fuel cell where there is to be cargo space. a more practial Hybrid is the prius."
