I would rather have the SL55 AMG, 0-60 in 7sec for the SL500 is too slow for me. plus it is better because you get the best of both worlds, nice performance and luxury from m-b.

The SL55 is too heavy(heavier than E55) to be a true sports car.

I like the new E class, but there isn't much to differentiate a E55 in appearance from the rest of the E models except the badge, for most people.

It's the fastest production sedan, but most of the magazine comparisons I've seen so far (at least 4 I think) still rank it below the old and outgoing M5 for driving dynamics and handling.

However, as a toy, I'll still take a SL55 over a E55

It has a 7-speed auto transmission which if fitted is better to 60 mph than the standard auto by up to 0.5 of a second. So, 0-60 in under 4 seconds and well over 200 mph when unrestricted is probably how fast this wonderful machine will go. If you want me to scan in pictures, just ask.

My favourite Mercedes of all time has to be the 1000 SEL. That was a customizable and made-by-order version of that era's SEL sedans(80's). It was mainly made for rich folks from the Middle East and I don't know if Mercedes sold it anywhere else. Out of today's production cars though, it's gotta be the SL600 or very soon, the SLR !!!

At least it was the only Benz capable of flying. Unfortunately the landing was besides the track.

It was meant as a grand tourer, and before the war the LeMans cars could be easily moved on public roads, just the fastest cars won, like the Bentley Blowers. Can you imagine that road going Chryslers also participated? The SSK never won, but they are amazing to listen too, in particular when the supercharger starts to whine.

Never heard of it? It's probably one of the most common Mercedes-Benz cars out on the road. I heard that one of my cousins bought one in black. The C sports coupe is also probably the cheapest model you can buy from Mercedes-Benz.

i have had a long line of mercedes and now i have finally got the one i wanted, it might not be fast but it is perfect for me its a SL350.

what do you think to this car?

yeah your right about the SL55 AMG being really fast but why choose that when you could have the SL600 V12 Bi Turbo. now that car is fast and more luxorious than the 55, plus the ride quality will be much better.
