View Full Version : Audi Q7... breakthrough, or is it just me?

Maybe I'm living in the future here, but I believe that the Audi Q7 is breaking new ground here. If you look at the commercials for it and such, you'll notice that it's a very techno savvy vehicle that contains an almost perfect balance about it that can promote confidence.

Maybe I've lost my mind, or maybe I did long ago, but to me, this SUV may be what can bring people to where we are, and not to the Retro act that we're following.

Look at it. It oozes purity.

I don't know what to say anymore. I may have found myself, just because of this... *sighs... a sign of relief*

A new breakthrough in uglyness and uselessness maybe ?

I think he may have a good point. However, nothing is bullet proof, but I would surely have this over the Cayenne.

Personally I think its the best looking SUV on the market. Although isn't it just a Toureag? (spelt wrong i know)

The commerical was fantastic. This could be the vehicle that rejuvinates the SUV again, and at the same time redesign different look on SUVs'

6speed
08-25-2006, 01:49 PM
I don't want the SUV to be rejuvinated, but I do want this forward thinking desing to keep going.

Hahaha... I wouldn't go that far. But I kinda hate the policy of transferring car design proportions, aesthetics and details to SUV's (even if its the same company). Not that there is anything wrong with that, but I prefer a fine line between the two. Makes things much more interesting and refreshing. Although these vehicles are a good illustration of "what would happen if a landcruiser swallowed a A6 r 911?"

Automobiles should look "designed" not "Photoshopped"

I second that.

The whole soft-roader SUV concept has to be taken out and shot.

The Cayenne, Touareg and Q7 are virtually all the same thing unless I got something very wrong. I think they are all based on the same platform or whatever, but their guts and obviously their designs are different.

I prefer using live words because to me a car is more than just a piece of machinery, it has a soul too:). I don't do any drugs in case anyone's wondering. I'm just hopelessly obsessed.

Yep, I can relate. Not to liking the Q7, but liking a car no-one else seems to :)

I'm sure if someone put a Q7 and a Sedona in front of you, you'd hop right in that Van. Pshhhh:D.

Its big, heavy AND ugly.

Refreshing design? are u nuts? it looks like an Inflated A6.

And i would take a cayenne Turbo S over any Q7. ( if i had to absolutely waste my money on a luxurious SUV)

I have to agree with ZeTurbo's comment... in my opinion I hate the ugly and boring Audi Q7. I would choose the Porsche Cayenne Turbo if I wanted to buy an SUV.

The Audi Q7 is one of the best premium SUVs out there. Range Rovers are a getting little too common nowadays and BMW X5s are getting a bit old. The Mercedes ML is too 'chic' for me and the Cayenne is UGLY! The Touraeg however is a VW. Some of the Q7's good points are: it has the most seats (7 seats vs 5 seats in the Cayenne, Touareg, Range Rover, X5 & ML), it has the infamous Audi quattro system underneath, which means it can go futher off road and by off road i mean not the soccer-field off road, i mean Pikes Peak off road. Yes the Range Rover can do the same but come on, people that buy Range Rovers usually have pretentions to a managed estate in Hampshire. People who buy a Q7 pn the ther hand have houses in the countryside, have big families and even bigger wallets! And as for its looks. Well ok i'll admit that its not the most prettiest of things but it will grow on you. Trust me. When my mum first drove our new Q7 back from the dealership, i thought that it looked liked a whale. but now, 2 months on its looks have grown on me. Ah but the only thing wrong that i've found with the Q7 is the new X5-which has 7 seats.

It's design isn't "fresh" it looks like what it is, a slightly changed Touareg/Cayenne. And it's not exactly techno-savvy, everything that's on it can be found on other cars, the lesson being, don't believe commercials and marketing hype, PR/Advertising/Marketing people are trained to bullshit to you.

Why have I yet to see a Q7 in the countryside driving around with more than 4 seats occupied ? Scratch that, I haven't seen a single Q7 with more than 2 seats occupied and they sure were all driving on nicely paved roads.

I really really really hope that someday all these SUVs will get banned in Europe (I doubt this will ever happen in the US).

Add me to your msn. You look at cars the exact same way I do.

Tell me if this is right... when you look at a car on the road, you don't see what other people see, and that's a mode of transport. You see a moving piece of art, just going place to place.

I hardly think you're on drugs, I just think that you, like me, are obsessed.

Why is there a link to an artist myspace page in your post?
(I don't see how it is relevant to this thread)

Please explain before I decide to remove it.

It's the song for the Audi Q7. Don't remove it. It helps explain why I enjoy this vehicle.

I like the Q7. I actually don't mind the triplet of SUV's (Toureg, Q7, Cayenne) because they're all perfectly fine to me. The commercial is amazing though, with the Audi Group B rally cars. Could someone give me links to some pictures? I don't know the name, so I can't really search it.

Personally I don't like the Q7's design at all. The big grill works for the Audi cars, but on this SUV it looks like crap.

I wouldn't be too sure of that. Taxes for them are on the rise. That's a start.

my mum was going to get a Q7 S-line, it was ordered, and arrived at the garage, but we didn't buy it... my dad bought an S-Class instead (comin next week :D:D) and we don't live in the countryside, we were going to buy one because 7 people in our family. the one we specified was unbelievably good looking, the bodykit made it look sexy as hell...
