Those designs absolutely suck. It's just a smooth gallardo-esque toy car.

Give it some damn character. On the good side.. I highly doubt these are Lotus' official drawings.. so it's safe for now.

First lines on the article are that Lotus has decided on the final shape of the car...
Maybe the Bronze one is it. The rear looks to carry some shape characteristics...

The pics on the 1st post are just Gallardos with Elise/Exige bits chopped on

If they make that paice of shit and disgrace the name of the Esprit, they should all be castrated. It doesn't look original at all; it is like a combination of an Exige and a Gallardo. That said, you guys are probably right in thinking that those aren't official Lotus... I hope they change their minds and use a four.

It may look like the Gallardo, but the Esprit has always looked like Lamborghinis, I don't see what's wrong with that. Post #1 pic #4 is the design as seen in CAR magazine, it has a single piece taillight too.

100% Correct all I was thinking was wow why did they massacre the gallardo?

The grey one is a test mule running on the Ring in last gen Espirit bodywork. Unless you were being sarcastic:confused:

Wouldnt their line up be better if it had at least one car that used a bigger engine...?
I rather like the Bronze one too.

They really should state where all these different pics came from. Darn websites/CAR magazine/carsguide,

Picture 4 in post 1 looks exactly like a Gallardo.

Designers need to stop sucking and get some creativity.

Bring back pop-up the headlights. How many cars have those these days? NONE.

Not only that, not as aerodynamic.

Er the Europa wasnt all that good so I don't feel we are missing out on much and the Esprit is probably going to come here. Is it Lotus's own engine this time though?

The Europa has 2-litre turbocharged GM engine. And the Esprit is rumoured to have a BMW V8.

In the latest Evo, they talk to Lotus CEO Mike Kimberley about plans, suggesting that the Eagle will have a Toyota-sourced V6, whilst the Esprit may use an Aston Martin V8, after Lotus' assistance in developing alloy components.

Still two years to go...

Yes that's too much time... :(

But I think the Aston V8 is a good move, since it's a more charismatic engine than the BMW V8 and slitghly more powerful too.

Like 2ndCC, what's the Eagle? The Elise Mk III?

The Eagle is the internal name for the 2+2 coupe, due in early 2009.

Based on a new platform, it will be bigger than the Elise-family cars, and likely have a Toyota V6.

Allegedly.

So, sort of an Europa Mk II without the constraints of the Elise-based chasis.

Also, Toyota V6, means actually Lexus V6?

IBrake4Rainbows

1) toyota and Lexus are the same company.
2) they share common engines.

So it's likely to be a Toyota V6.

Ferrer
08-31-2007, 06:23 AM
Well the thing is, we don't have V6 engined Toyotas... :o

Is the V6 in your big Toyota the same as the one used in the Lexus IS and GS?

IBrake4Rainbows

The V6 Camry does share lineage with the Lexus E Series, yes.

as do many toyotas ;)

I've done some research and there actually some differences between Toyotas V6s and Lexus V6s.

The 2G-FSE, 3G-FSE and 4G-FSE are used by Lexus IS, GS and some rear driven Toyotas which I believe are only sold in Japan. This is more high-tec engine.

On the other hand front wheel driven Toyotas including the Aurions and the Lexus ES and RX use the slitghly less advanced 2G-FE.

My question was, which one is going to be the mainly Toyota unit or the mainly Lexus one?

IBrake4Rainbows

Many Lexus' in the western world are sold as Toyota's in Japan - the Toyota Celsior is equivalent to the old Lexus LS400, for instance.

Lexus was only introduced in Japan within the last year If i remember properly.

It may look like the Gallardo, but the Esprit has always looked like Lamborghinis, I don't see what's wrong with that. Post #1 pic #4 is the design as seen in CAR magazine, it has a single piece taillight too.

A Lotus has always looked like a Lotus. You cannot get them mixed up on the road. The untrained eye that sees Lamborghini has not differentiated between Gian Paolo Dallara design, a Bertone design and a Giorgio Guigaro Design. None of which are anywhere near each other in design discipline. If they are similar only in layout, that is where it ends. As Pininfarina designs Ferrari, their look is unmistakable. A Lotus concept may appear to look "Lamborghini-like" in photos but when seen in the flesh, takes on a whole new attitude. A Gallardo in person looks nothing like it does in photos. Porsche 911s look so much better in real life as opposed to photos. Give Lotus a chance to REALLY pop the prototype. It will be ALL Lotus:D
