I am a devout lover of the Chevrolet Corvette and have been since I was little. I also, as Misho said, try not to let that cloud my oppinion on things.

the two cars that i feel the most 'fanboy' towards is the VW R32 or any VW for that matter, and the Corvette mostly the C5

My goal is to be as open-minded as possible (at least concerning sports cars). Naturally, I have my favorite styles of car.

I don't consider myself to be a brand fanboy at all. For example, I like the Elise, and I like Lotus. However, if Chevrolet makes a better lighweight than the Elise, then I'm all in favour of it. Brand fanboys are the ignorant ones who never seem to admit defeat.

Fanboys are people who blatantly and blindly worship a certain marque or car (or even a nationality of a car). They will endlessly promote this [car, marque, etc] at any opportunity, and they will deny any of its flaws to the bitter end.

In short, a significant number of UCP members :) :)

Pretty much all Italian cars for me...I don't know why.
Is it the passion, the looks, the feeling? Nah, they're just all so

You should re-read my definition of fanboy. ;) Lightweight sports cars a a type of car, not a single car or a brand. I leave myself completely open to all countries, manufacturers, and models to prove themselves worthy.

Are you aware that a British 'fanny' is an entirely different part of the female anatomy ? not too far removed from the US one

So whats your take on these. The Clubman weighs 875kg, not much more than an Elise and has a 245kw alloy Gen3. Apparently they will modify the motor to the buyers specs. How much is too much???

The fact that those weigh a little more than an Elise doesn't detract from the fact that I think they're awesome! ;)

I don't really need any car to satisfy a personal criteria, but I like what I see here. It's a modern "7", and it's great to see something like that out of Australia.

its not the first LS-1 Clubman type racer to be made here though, a while ago i think motor tested a lotus X7 with the LS-1 fitted and they said it was a handful to handle, though i dont know whether they were comparing it to a 4 cylinder lotus 7 or just compared to a family barge

Yeh me to accept most of the time i am right about Ford's being the best as i'm always comparing to crapy General Motors that or tri-hard Holden...

well theres cars in both ford's and holdens lineup that i'd either love or hate to own. any 70's kingswood or falcon would be on the love list, but i dont like the VB-VL series or the XK-XM falcons. the XP's pretty good as are the rest after that. old torana's are pretty sweet as well, same with old capri's and escorts.

Can you name one Holden that has any merit whatsoever?

I believe these new incarnations have totally new suspension. They are not old chassis with a big engine and new plastic.

As someone who likes Holdens I am pretty happy to see them being so prolific with new and exciting products. I remember when the highlight was seeing a new model come out every two or three years, and in those cases many were just face lifts. With Holdens sales success and good management we have seen a vast array of niche products and performance oriented cars from what is essentially a small domestic producer. It has also caused Ford to go harder in terms of competing in the performance area with the effect of giving the Australian market a good choice of affordable performance sedans. I would be interested to know what other country offers four door 240kw+ rear wheel drive sedans for around US$34000.

well, the whole point of being a fanboy is that you are not mature enough to be a "man" version of a fan.

Actually the insult is more directed at the blind irrationalism of someone that believes that a car or manufacturer is "superior" in every way to any thing or one else. Whether it be boy, man, girl or dog.

I don't show, but I am a total fanboy of Fords. Its a Australasian thing. I'm also a big fanboy of BMW's, Chris Bangle has made it hard to be a fan boy though...
