***BEFORE YOU MAKE A REQUEST***

Do a search for the car you're going to request! There's a good chance it has already been posted! The search interface is in the upper right hand corner of your screen on the main Hide-Out page!

If you don't find anything from the search, go back to the main page of the Hide-Out and visit the Hide-Out Index (http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18047) thread. It is a listing of all the cars that have been posted so far, in alphabetical order by manufacturer.

Wouter opened up the hide out so that everyone can post their hi-res car pictures.

Here's the rules:

1. Pictures must be at least 1280x960 but preferably larger.
2. While I hesitate to put too many restrictions on the types of pictures posted, there needs to be some sort of guidelines. So, how about this: Whatever you post needs to be some kind of automobile. That means cars, trucks, tractors, bulldozers, tanks, etc. I don't want pictures of mobile phones or teapots here on Ultimatecarpage.

Bugatti announced today that the Veyron project was again delayed, now for another 15 months. They've also lowered the reported top speed to 218mph. They might as well just quit - they look like a joke, now.

If you'll notice, I never post pictures from dealerships or auto shows. Just not my deal. So, I'll leave those types of pictures to other people. My guess is that Venturi never took media shots of their older cars.

I have a lil suggestion for you (seems incredible that I can advise the hi-res guru of all time, doesn't it? lmao). Check out www.tucows.com, in the image editing section, there's a program that automatically resizes a bunch of pictures at the same time ... that might help save quite some time.
The problem with automatic conversions is 'artefacts'.
Compression depends on the image itself and sometimes a hi-res image with high compression actually looks worse than a lower-res image with lower compression. One pic can look OK one way and the next pic the other.
So when we're trying to get the 'best' for UCPers it takes a human eye to compare the image quality.

I actually use ACDSee to do mass resizings. Sometimes I have to delete and resize again to get the file size down to an appropriate size to post. That doesn't take all that long. But, like Matra said, I have to go back and look at each of the resized photos and make sure it came out alright.

I never change the quality or compression of a picture, just the actual dimensions.

Just in case you guys are wondering why I keep editting the titles of your threads...I always try to make the thread title state the Manufacturer and then Model (and if there is a big change in the model I put the year in parens). The reason I do this is so that someone coming here to search for a specific car can sort the threads by title and find the listings in a reasonable order.

I got all the ones that I could find on the media sites. Sorry for the ones that weren't available. Strangely, some on your list were mentioned nowhere on the sites. It's like the cars never existed. Others were just too old. A few companies don't keep good archives of past models or past generations of models.

Oh and every internet server doens't have a copy of all the files on every other internet server. ( caches aside :) )

I just feel like I should put everything I can find on here, regardless of whether it's available on other websites or whether it's even posted elsewhere on UCP. I see this place as a reference. It's much easier to search than the regular forums, much easier to sort and you know there isn't going to be any other superfluous threads. If you find a thread titled with the car you want, you know there are hi-res pics in there. Also, I think that it's probably in the best interest of UCP to not make people rely on other sites to get information/media they can get here.
