Interesting! BUT, I bet throwing one of those cups on the ground will cause it to break/shatter into 100's of pieces, making this experiment obsolete.

by the look of the amount of cups on the table, they expected alot more

I imagine it works on the same principles that let you stand on Coke can without crushing it. I bet you so much as nudged it, the cups would shatter

I was looking at autoblog.com and this comment made perfect sence.

I think it has something to do with preceise weight distribution. It's just like if you fell onto a bed of nails, you'd get hurt bad. if you gently lower your body correctly onto it, the nails will not break skin.

Since it has larger surface area blocks on top of it and it was lowered onto them with a crane slowly its perfectly possible. I'd hate to see it fall though.

There was something like that in a TV show here in Germany a couple of years ago, where they put a truck (Mercedes Actros) on 4 beer glasses. It works perfectly, if you lower the car at all four sites at the same time and at very low speed and if the glasses (or cups in this case) are in exactly right positions.

I think it's because of the dome shape which gives it the strength. It's why eggs are so strong.

Lol though Ashley is the name of the company who sponsored and held the event.

I'm quite surprised they chose a SE over a standard though.

At a guess, i'd say the reason for using the Gallardo is the whole 'bull in a china shop' thing.....
