I love the Carrera GT, but that's pretty new, so I have to say the 996 GT2 for now...

That's like saying that the Saleen SR is the best ford ever...

Anyway, best Porsche? Obviously it's the electronically fuel-injected 1974 914 two-litre :)

Yes, I'm kidding. I'll say, without a doubt, the 959.

Usually, the latest is the best, at least technologically.

So I vote for the Porsche Carrera GT , which I think is also the hottest looking car they 've ever produced.

The 1997 911 GT1.
If you're interested in getting technical information on this beauty you may visit the following URL:

According to SC.net :If super exclusivity appeals to you, forget the Carrera GT: this is the car to keep in your collection.

Hmmm....the skirts and rims are OK but the rear spoiler and the mirrors aren't to my taste.

For normal road use the 959 and for racing the 917.

I realy like the 908/3, it's such a beautiful racing car, but for on the road as an everyday sportcar I think the 928

the BEST porsche ever build would problably be the 928GTS, its supurb reliabilty and driveavility made it Business Car Of The Year !!

IBrake4Rainbows
05-17-2003, 10:31 PM
Hmmmm, tough call, i would probalby go for something like the 917, due to it's complete dominance of it's chosen field and it's absolute technical novelty of the time, and the really weird rear....

MCMZ4E, there is a edit button; please by all means, dont allow yourself to think post counts mean anything..ok? Quality over quantitiy :)

959 I suppose. My heart also lies deaply with the (1973?) 911 Carrera RS 2.7.

it has to be the GT3 RS... it's fast, it's light, it looks good, and it's affordable... well kinda :p

its only 50kilos lighter than the GT3 standard, which isnt an amazing amount. the ferrari 360Cs got 110kilos off from the 360

Yee but did you see the roll cage in it, and the seats…..

Anyways think 911 Carrera 2.8 RSR is the best and most beautiful of all time…. Or an 2.7 RS will do…

you can have that in any car. Just because it has a roll cage and race seats doesnt mean that its an amazing car ;)

The 2004 911 GT2 . . . although theres not many distincint features that set apart from the turbo, Cabriolet, Targa, 4S, or base carrera, the few things that make it different somehow convince me that its the best looking porsche ever . . . well next to the carrera GT, but its more expensive, and that GT2 is great enough for its price . . .

There may not be many stylistic differences, but the GT2 offers a proper old-school scary 911 experience.

In fact so many people were put off by the GT2s lively disposition that they had to soften it slightly with the Mk2 GT2 in an effort to increase sales.

Having owned 4 Porsches since 1971...

the "What's the best Porsche ever?" for my needs....without turbo and big wings....and without spending $400,000...

I car I can drive on the track and every day....and enjoy all the time...

the ....2004 Porsche 911 40th Aniversary Edition.... fast !!! 345 hp.... ...wonderful handling package....actually same as 2005 997S.....

Many nice extras.....the only 911 to be called a 911 for years....

for me ...it is the best....no agrument ...just an opinion...from one who has owned many...

Hmmm. The best naturally aspirated porsche in my opinion was the 993 Carrera C4S. The best turbo porsche was the 993 GT2, and the best racing car...well, thats a tough one. I love the 917 kurzheck and langheck, and the 908 series. But the best race car was probably the 904. Why? It was a major stepping stone for porsche.

Best Porsche: Cayenne.

Kidding: the 917.
