Porsche USA has a new website.

http://www.porsche.com/all/911gt3rs/usa.aspx

It's self explanatory. :D

Sorry about the title, could a mod fix it for me? Bad punctuation. :D

Sorry if it's a repost also.

The black on orange is quite striking. :D Orange roll cage too.

the orange mirrors are a bit odd. the rest is fine.
This orange is obviously trying to link this car with the mythical 71 carrera RS.

I like it; the colors are a bit odd, but everything else is quite nice. I'd rather have a Ruf though.

You're right. The orange wheels are out of place.

is it just me or does this look vaguely chopped... expertly, but not quite like original photography.

Mythical?

Well, I guess the 1971 Carrera RS would be mythical, because it didn't exist. The 1973 Carrera RS is legendary.

It is not unusual for companies to tart up their press photos with a bit of photoshop.

Look at the Maserati MC12 press pics - especially the "carbonfibre" rear diffuser.

perhaps he meant the 1972 2.7 RS

Yes, you are right... in part.
Acording to UCP (http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/frame.php?file=car.php&carnum=648) it was in pruduction from 1972 to 1973. So i guess mister Tiv was right... either way i was wrong.

Hey guys this is my first post. What can I say other than Porsche has done it again? That car must simply be a pleasure to drive. It is gorgeous and the HP/L for a nom-turbo is near godlike. All praise Porsche.

BTW, anyone see Road and Track's CG image of the replacement for the Carrera GT? It looks like a lemans car without advertisments all over it. Porsche's supercars may not be their best lookers, but they are like a scalpel compared to the sledgehammer that is a 'Vette... Both achieve the same result, but the scalpel has jsut so much more style...

Ah yes, one more thing, can anyone tell me what the pic in silverhawk's avatar is? It look so familiar but i can't place it quite. Also on a different topic, what the hell is the word about the 911 turbo S and GT2 / (GT2RS)? When are they coming? You guys may be more connected than me and I eagerly await their release.

Hey Kitdy, the car in silverhawk's avy is a Pagani Zonda. As for the Porsche the buck stops at the GT3/GT3RS for me. If I could buy a Porshce it would be from the GT3 side of family. I have no need for more power than what they offer, and as a bonus they handle like the proverbial go kart:D

If I had $100 000 CDN dollars. I would visit my local Porsche dealer and spend the day driving all his cars and then pick one. Or maybe I'd wait for the upcoming...

I wonder if they'll have any more Seventies colour schemes.... baby blue, acid green, banana yellow... I'd love a baby blue over black!

Maybe red over black? They must do that.

Yeah, you go tell them what to do.

BTW, could this thread be moved with the old 997 RS thread?

Hey man, I did a car build on the Porsche Canada website, just for fun, and set up a GT3, with fancy headlights, and stock everything else. It came out to around $149,850.00, and the bone stock 911 Carrera starts out at about $100,000.00. I noticed that the PCCB are a twelve thousand dollar option!!!
I don't think that I'd spring for those, I mean just how often would you need that kind of power when the standard Porsche brake systems are the best in the biz?

They had a lot of problems with the discs cracking early on, and a lot of people were pissed. I reckon they've got it figured now...

Anyway, any Porsche that doesn't threaten to snap-spin with the inertial force of a small moon in the boot if you enter a corner a half mph too hot isn't a Porsche to me.

And I know, having never driven one. That enging's slung out back for a reason: to kill car theives before they get the chance to light your pride and joy on fire. It's classic German thinking, really.

I spew nonsense.
Cheers.

it's easy... let someone else buy a GT3 set up with a long list of options, then wait for them to sell it in 15 months time, when it's depreciated back down below the cost of a new carrera S.
it works, trust me :D

So you wanted a black GT3 RS with black wheels?

Yeah, I'd want that too. Orange wheels are awkward.
