Righto, who's going? I'm heading up with a couple of mates to go on monday the 31st October.

Site: http://carsguide.news.com.au/aims

Stuff that'll be there: MX-5 Hardtop, Z4 coupe, 599, new Alfa Spider, that Saab supercar-thingy with the canopy, new TT, Mazda Kabura, all the VEs, no Porsche again though :( WSID has an exhibition and Shannon's is gonna have their classics display again (hopefully there'll be a Zonda hiding back there again!)

Anyway, should be good. Will be taking camera for lots of pics

youll see very few tits as its being cracked down on, i didnt see any last year and only 2 pairs year before.

a datto won it but aside from that i saw only ONE other import, a supra that took out the 6 cyl turbo dyno comp. that was it. i would STRONGLY advise Sam(s) that you leave the sil at my place and we go out in the pulsar or something else inconspicuous.

Beer is expensive, get the JD frozen cokes and vodka slushies instead :D

burnt rubber? expect to cough up a new set for your cars when you get home you'll inhale so much :D :p

Theyre simply the standard 18" wheels. FPV seem to always have the optional 19" wheels on the press photos.

fpv_gtho
10-22-2006, 01:52 AM
They might have something like the Iosis and Iosis X concepts. I doubt it though, depending on how much money theyre allocating towards it. They might prefer to show off in Melbourne.

Mitsubishi's red-hot 380
Bruce Newton, drive.com.au, 26/10/06

A supercharged 380 sports sedan adds punch to Mitsubishi's large car lineup, writes BRUCE NEWTON.

Mitsubishi TMR 380
Mitsubishi is determined to convert the TMR 380 motor show concept revealed in Sydney this morning into a production vehicle.

The fiery red 380 features a supercharged version of the 3.8-litre V6 engine developed by West Australian-based specialiast Sprintex. Power increases by 31 per cent to 230kW and torque by 29 per cent to 442Nm.

Mitsubishi boss Rob McEniry revealed potential customers had already tried to place orders for the TMR 380 after sightings on the internet.

"We have been a little embarrassed by that, so we are going to have to move this along pretty quickly," he said. "It's just a matter of working through the homologation."

McEniry suggested that some components may come to market as accessories, while a two tier model range could also be considered. A version with the concept's aggressive bodywork could be on-sale this year, while a higher-spec version that adds the performance parts could appear in the first half of 2007.

Pricing for a full-house production TMR 380 is far from sorted, but the most obvious established rival is Ford's Falcon XR6 Turbo. It retails for $46,405. The most expensive 380 is currently the $44,990 GT.

The TMR 380 was one of two supercharged concept cars shown by a local manufacture at Darling Harbour today. Toyota also presented its Aurion Sports Car Concept, which will produce 240kW when it goes into limited production mid-2007.

The Mitsubishi takes its name from Team Mitsubishi Ralliart, which runs the company's Australian Rally Championship campaign and also performs road vehicle modifications.

TMR put the show car together at its Melbourne base, based on Mitsubishi's design brief of improving the performance and appeal of the 380 while delivering the flavour of the iconic Lancer Evo series.

It also presented a hotted up version of the Lancer Evo IX named the TMR 220. Aimed at sprint and hill climb enthusiasts, the 220 goes on-sale in January with pricing expected to be pitched between $75,000 and $80,000.

The TMR 380 includes Ralliart developed six-pot brakes at the front and four-pot Brembos at the rear, a 50mm lowered ride height, adjustable Koni shock absorbers, 19-inch alloy wheels and Goodyear Eagle F1 rubber.

Externally, the TMR 380 has a full body kit and twin bonnet scoops. Features inside include Recaro leather seats and a Fujitsu 10 sound system.

Whitegoods to white hot
Joshua Dowling, The Sydney Morning Herald, 27/10/06

Toyota has revealed its powerful new Aurion performance sedan, JOSHUA DOWLING reports.

Toyota Aurion Sports Concept

Not content with putting the squeeze on Australia's two biggest-selling sedans in a battle for fleet-car business, Toyota is now aiming for the cars in which Holden and Ford take most pride: their performance sedans.

This concept car unveiled at yesterday's Sydney motor show is officially billed as a "design study only" but in reality it is a pointer to a new supercharged V6 version of Toyota's new Aurion sedan due in showrooms by this time next year.

Toyota Australia is desperate to be regarded as a legitimate rival to the Holden and Ford duopoly and is trying to appeal to a broad range of large-car buyers. Now Toyota has enthusiast buyers in mind as it attempts to shed its whitegoods-on-wheels image.

Toyota chief John Conomos says the Aurion will not appeal to diehard fans of Holden Special Vehicles and Ford Performance Vehicles models but he believes there is room for an alternative in the performance sedan class.

"While people who buy those cars love them, that's not the majority of the market," he says. "We think there is room there for people who want a sophisticated, refined sedan with above-average performance."

Drive understands the high-performance Aurion is designed to compete with Japanese performance sedans, such as the Subaru Liberty turbo, Mazda6 MPS and European models such as the coming twin-turbo BMW 3 Series sedan and the supercharged Mercedes-Benz C-Class models.

The supercharged 3.5-litre V6 is rumoured to have in excess of 240kW. Drive understands the car is likely to wear the TRD badge, for Toyota Racing Development. Oddly, though, for a performance car it will be available with a six-speed automatic transmission only.

The supercharged Aurion is being developed locally and will be unique to Australia. That Toyota Australia has been entrusted with such a project is regarded as a compliment to the company's local engineering expertise.

If this project is successful, other local developments could follow and the supercharged Aurion could be sold overseas, particularly in the US and Middle East.

The Aurion is only available in Auto IIRC - it's also only got the one engine type.

I was highly meh about the car myself - i don't like the detailing and i think it looks just like a Vienta of the current camry, essentially.
