View Full Version : I saw the most amazing car today (1995 Ultima Sport)

A while ago a buddy of mine who owns the water taxi company around where I live was telling me all about his car restoration hobby and all the amazing machines that he owns. He mentioned an old mustang, a Straigt-six Mark II Jag, etc, but what stood out above all was his favorite: A 1995 Ultima Sport, the only one in Canada. Just today I finally managed to get out to his place to check it out. Amazing.

I met him on the driveway out front powerwashing his boat and the Ultima was sitting there, rear portion of the car off. He removed the spoiler to re-mount it on the actual body, rather than its usual location bolted onto the frame (the problem was, you had to remove the spoiler everytime you wanted to remove the back to work on the engine).

So there it was, running open headers, in all its glory. Revved it up to about 1/6 of the 7000 or so redline and it was loud. Gotta love the sound of a gurgling 400+ hp Chevy 350, and it's only gonna be that much better when your face is sucked into the back of your skull doing 0-60 in 3.4 seconds :)

Anyway, I was on bike, so I didn't have a camera, but this weekend I might grab some pictures. He's off to a British Car meet at Van Dusen gardens here in Vancouver next weekend, and I just might get the passenger seat for the way there. Anyway, if all goes well I'll be bringing you guys some pictures by next Saturday or Sunday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed ;)

I hate it how nobody ever talks after people make relatively long posts. Are people just too lazy to read or do they just not care?

Okay, fair enough :) Hopefully I will have them by Saturday!

Until then, it looks pretty much exactly like this one: (Except the one I'm talking about has a carbon fibre rear wing off of a Ferrari 333SP race car.

After I read your post I went looking for some more info about that model, and ultima in general... I just want to quote something I found here:
http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/index.html

so that we can keep waiting for those Fab Pics to come!!!

Well, shite ;)

I called him up on Friday and he said that his son wanted to go. Naturally, I was pretty disappointed. Oh well, I suppose I might get a ride in it some day, but it doesn't look to be anytime too soon :(

the ultima is like a westfeild or caterham or leading edge or radical with a huge engine fitted an not that light weight highly tuned motocycle engine but the looks - it spoils everything - i don't likt it the westfield xtr 2 looks better

what do you mean - different versions - there are 4 different ultimas - the ultima GTR, the ultima can-am, the ultima spyder(based on the GTR), and the ultima sport(based on the GTR) - my fav the cam - actually they all look almost alike but they have slight differences in design - this is the can-am

Hi Eggnog,

I am on the verge of buying an Ultima GTR and would appreciate talking to your friend about his car.

I plan to be at the factory in Leicester towards the end of summer to place my order and to evaluate the various options available but would very much like to speak to an owner in Western Canada.

Please let me know if this can be arranged ASAP.

Thanks

Yes, definately! He's away for a few days, but after that I'll call him and let him know that you might call. Can I assume that I can send the number to the e-mail address in your user info? I'll do this all as soon as possible.

Hope you get through to him soon.
