In your opinion which road version of the following originally successful WRC cars is the best?.

Contestants are all equipped with 4 cyl units with approximately 2.0 litres of displacement.The Mitsubishi has the most powerful unit with 271 bhp while the Subaru developes 265 bhp leaving the Focus engine's 220 bhp.

I'll have a lancia stratos please, or maybe a Metro 6R4, or an original audi quattro... so many cars, so few places to play with them anymore :(

yes but focus cosworth comes and killes subaru and evo8.... 300 hp

besides the evo the others are shadows of the rally counter parts.

but the evo they just gear higher to try get a better 0-60 time

subaru is rally car converted for road use not the other way around like the sad atempts the other companies are making to jump on the rally band wagon

I think that Lancia Delta S4 Road version was a realy cool car but Impreza Wrx is also one awsome car :) ... but my favorite is for Lancia STRATOS :D :D hes low and litle powerfull and good loking :cool: :cool: :cool:

Both the Evo and the Sti carry 300 break horse, so that means the cosworth is no better, and it doesnt look better than the RS, just a normal focus with fancy lights.

Which is the best? Evo ofcourse!!! The RS is criminally underpowered compared to its WRC counterpart and the STi might sound better than the Evo with its boxter engine but it doesnt touch it in any other area. The evo is a true rally car for the road... no question

dude wtf u talking about, u need to brush up on ur wrc history man impreza and legacy were both road cars before subaru became part of the whole rally era

lancer evo was modified from the stock lancer and developed from there as a new platform

ford focus was dirived from the escort which was if my memory serves me correctly part of group b

as for which one i think is best ... its got to go to the evo, power aint even if it was it still has enough to duke it out with the sti. however the evo has much better suspension and drive train technology, it's active center dif and active yaw control are much better than the STi's.
plus the sti understeers at the limit much more than the evo and understeer = big no no for this type of car

in the actual competition's however the focus totally outclasses both impreza and lancer since both the impreza and lancers are about 10 years old while the focus is only around 5
the new trend as you can see by looking at the citroen and peugot is to have as little overhang as possible while retaining a wheelbase long enough to have sufficient top speed stability while small enough to navigate the corners of rally stages

as much as i hate to side with guytx, he is right about the subaru. no other company had such an integral part of designing the stock car that they use in the WRC, because of them its much more areodynamic, and lighter. they got rid of the bug eyes because these new ones are better for areo dynamics. they told subaru to lose the extra weight! the subaru world rally team had the most input for the new WRX then a road going alternative would have. it truly is a wrc car changed for the road.

dude ... they redesigned the lancer 04 wrc car from scratch ...
they took off a year to rethink their entire concept (though it aint doin much now ...)
one last thing ... if they were so involved ... why they let them put the bug eyes on the car in the first place?
