I dont know if this is true of not, but there are roumers going around that there might be a 375kW LS3 in the next Commodore. I don't know how true this is but I just want to know what your opinion is on this roumer. Thanks.

Sounds like BS. Thats the figure the LS7 is making, which is the grand-daddy of the Gen4 range.

The LS3 will probably end up being 6.2L which will help it get a bit extra over the LS2, but maybe only 350kw.

Well, even at 350kW, that will surely have some grunt.

I can't see Holden putting a 375 Kw engine in any car. As fpv_gtho mentioned, it sounds like nothing more than the HSV LS7 rumour which has been doing the rounds for quite some time. IMO, the only way an LS7 will end up in a Commodore is via HSV as an extremely limited edition GTS-R or similar as an out-of-reach-for-most range topper. And it also begs the question....Where do you go from there?

Hmm, I'd thought the LS3 was going to be the GM Powertrain range topper with 600hp in the C6 Stingray/Blue Shark or whatever it ends up being called, and that mega CTS

If that was the case, we're definately not getting it. Its still up for discussion if we'll ever see the LS7, just like we never saw the LS6.

A supercharged 600hp LS7 has been rumored for the Blue Devil. don't think there's any chance of Holden / HSV using this monster. Apparently the LS7 is available here for around the $24,000 mark so i wouldn't like to be paying for a sc'd version.

Holden next power upgrade will only be 5kw, then 5kw. then by 2008 maybe sit at 285kw. HSV move too 320kw.
Then the diseal models come in with smaller capcitys and supercharger alloytech. I can't see holden topping 300kw until after 2010.
Maybe HSV will offer the supercharged V8? But if the price for engine is $20,000 on it's own stuff that:p

^^except for the E series when they make you think theyve jumped 10kw, but all theyve done is change from ECE to DIN, so its more like 2-3kw :p

LS3 will be the range topper and will come with a supercharger producing 650hp. This combo is romoured to power the corvette blue devil.

LS7 wasnt used because of its costs, availability and its ability to handle FI.

Why cant Holden just ask Australia's various performance shops to help them develop a Twin turbo LS2.................GenTT for example

It's obvious. If you have the VE Commodore 2006 Collector's Magazine from Wheels, go closely and read "The Daddy" part with the GTS. It's true. HSVLVR is right. Why? Because I showed him!

So Wheels claimed it to be a 375kw LS3?

It hasnt been a great years for our car expert jurno's, And they have had many top cars too test and have made some silly little errors and made themselves look pretty amuture at times doing it.

I think you are confused with the rumored LS9 engine?
And Aus will never get that.

Yes. (in some kind of voice that makes people shiver.)

No, wheels claim a LS7, not a LS3. And they hint that this might be in a limited edition HSV, something like the 427 or GTS-R.

That certainly makes alot more sense. Thanks

The 427 isn't used on the Monaro, but the Monaro has a 427 cubic inch engine, and seeing the GTS won't have 427kw, I'd say the GTSR sticker would be most likely.

See, I told you, the Motor/ Wheels magazine shows that Walkinshaw just released a 370kW HSV. Suck on that:p

OK lets look at this again. The thread title is 375kW LS3. What you are talking about is a blown LS2. I fail to see what we are "sucking" on exactly?

This is not the rumoured limited edition HSV that was discussed previously, this is a Walkinshaw car, it is completely different.

Your a engine short:D
If close enough was good enough we wouldn't have perfection:cool:

No, this is a one off. IIRC also, its a Senator with all the GTS kit on it as well.

What do you all think of that grean walkinshaw beast they had featured in Motor (or wheels :S) haha HATE the interior imo, its overkill, however, nice little package that delivers quite a whallop

My brother Thinks it's mad, When in hospital i had too buy the mag for him too read, And for 3 days it's all he talked about..
He doesn't like TW but said that dude can build mad cars still, Not too everyone's taste but a car that stands out like the VL Walky.

fpv_gtho
01-25-2007, 05:26 AM
Ah but when that particular one was at $130K, it kinda puts it all in perspective. IIRC, DJR were flogging his cars off for $95K with the 320kw engine, and i reckon you could get one with a 400kw Herrod blower for under $110K.

SlickHolden
01-25-2007, 05:34 AM
I think you can get a XR6T faster and handling better for under $80,000:p
If you don't like the name and extra do dar:D.

fpv_gtho
01-25-2007, 05:42 AM
You probably could.

Just as a quick run down, BF2 XR6T - $45K, V8 Supercar sized brakes - $10K, edit - $1300 including custom tune, 3.5 inch full exhaust - $1500, new valve springs, cams, fuel injectors, fuel pump, upgraded trans oil cooler, bigger intake/plenum chamber, intercooler, upgraded clutch - unknown. All the "knowns" add up to around $60K, and the rest may only take it to $70K.

But then you dont get the nice interior that green Walkinshaw had, being a Senator originally. You dont get the trick suspension, seeing as how the MRC can go between performance and comfort (how they shouldve done it for all of them IMO) and i think Walkinshaw even gives some warranty.

SlickHolden
01-25-2007, 05:58 AM
You could do a upgrade on the interior:)... Seats about $3000, Door trims pinch them:p.. New dash ??$?? Maybe around $10,000 for the interior still cheap:)

fpv_gtho
01-25-2007, 06:00 AM
Well anything's possible. You'll probably want to upgrade the stereo and speakers, thats for sure

Most of the cost of the Green GTS/Senator would've been the full respray in a Lambo paint (it's actually the Lambo green) adding the GTS bodykit and having all the custom leather made (I'm pretty sure it's not just the stock leather dyed green)
