Well here's how it goes. My dad is in a real hurry to buy a new car and he wants to go down tmr and put a down payment. I need your help deciding people. The one's were looking at is 2007 323i vs. 2007 G35 (design was encahnced from 2006)

Here are the pros/cons for each car tell me what you guys think

BMW 323i
http://bmw.ca/com/en/index_highend.html
pros
-It's a BMW =)
-It has a really refined ride, test drove it at 120 km felt like we were doing 50.
-Less maintainance, oil change is every 25000 km vs 5-6000 for infinity, brakes also need less work
-Run-flats although not too big of a deal

Cons
-The car looks cheap
-The interior is leatherette, not even real leather
-plastics on the inside are again cheap

Infinity G35
http://infiniti.ca/en/models/g35_sedan/overview.html
Pros
-306 hp engine
-Gorgeous dual exhaust
-17' rims
-great interior space
- real leather and more functional instrument panel
-nice engine note

Cons
-5 speed auto vs. 6 speed tiptronic in BMW
-2 grand more
-Suspension has less give, you feel more bumps in the road

We did consider other cars in this class but really it came down to these two..I realise i may have been biased, but you guys probably know plenty more about the cars then i do anyway, this was just the impression i got from a test drive and some time spent looking them both up. As always feel free to add any experiences or other info on the cars to help me make my decision.

I'd go with the G35, 300hp, 100 more than the bmw. The extra power and the interior would do it for me.

Tiptronic is the Devil. Do not go there.

The Infiniti looks much sassier, and will always be a damn sight rarer.

G35, new one for sure. Get it in red or black :D

Not here, they are fairly common.

Wow, it's the new G35 huh?

I'd go for it, just because it's more powerful, better interior room, and while it's new, be rarer than the 3 series.

Edit- I just noticed that it's a 323, not a 325. Wow, that must be really lacking in power.

Go for the G35.

I'd take the Infiniti.

Since he has mentioned a 323i instead of a 330i I suppose that his budget doesn't really strech to an A4 3.2...

This is true, I just looked up the BMW engine sizes...
Same they don't still do the A4 2.4...

G35 is such a good looking car, can't wait until we get them here next year.
Over here, every man and his dog and cat and hamster have bought BMW's

There's the A4 2.0T which is a good choice, don't know if they sell it in the US nor it's price there if they do, though.

Anyway the 3-series isn't what we'd call beautiful either...

I agree on the 3-series Coupe. However we were talking about the saloon, weren't we?

If you're looking at sedans of both, then I'd take neither, as there are way better looking cars out there.

Coupe makes it a lot more interesting, with the BMW nudging it out for me. I saw the aforementioned 335i coupe in black last week, and I had to slow down so he would pass me. Amazing car.

I agree with you when it comes to 4-door saloons the Alfa Romeo 159 and even the Audi A4 (despite that grille) are more beautiful, and definitely my choice in the segment. However if we are talking about coupes then yes the BMW is ahead of the Infinity, especially if the BMW has one of those sweet straight six engines...

And apparently Audi do the best V8 in the business. But unfortunately you cann't have an A4 bodystyle with a 4.2FSI V8 unless you buy an S4 or RS4...
Goddamnit

The S4's engine doesn't have direct fuel injection. And anyway when it comes to "normal" engines (I mean not S/RS), BMW's powerplants are a lot better in my opinion.

EDIT And I have driven both, Audi's 3.2-litre FSI V6 and BMW's 3-litre straight six.

No, it's just a regular 4.2 V8- not the FSI.

It's a more compact version of the one fitted to the previous generation's S6, and the same as the RS6's engine minus the blowers- so yeah, quite an old engine design minus Fuel Stratified Injection :)

And I don't think so- as the 4.2 FSI was only introduced in summer 2006.

So? They need to spend money and time plumbing it for the A6- detuning it, too. It's got slightly less bhp, you see...

What difference does the GTi coming out in '05 make? The A2 1.6 FSI was around in 2002.

For someone who likes cars, I am genuinely surprised you missed the entire A2 fiasco. The windscreen wipers would rock the car from side to side. The 1.6 FSI was deemed the, erm, 'halo' model of the range. It also had a huge song and dance for the FSI inclusion.
