Hey, what happened to the R34 Skyline GT-R?

matheus
01-05-2007, 05:37 PM
well as you know the skyline was never introdused to usa so the are only for asia they keep to then selfs but its is also a good car it is the common supra enemy :)

and the others awd cars
imprenza wrx sti
lancer evo

STREETFIRE
01-05-2007, 05:38 PM
They didn't keep 'em for themselves. All three (Evo, STi, R34) came to Australia (where I live).

The Celica 2000GT is a classic tuner, like the Miata.

And out of what you've put there, the NSX most definately.

to tell u the truth the miata is a great car it is smal fun to drive and if you do some upgrades one it like a turbo i turns in to a lill jet but most people go big with the cars that all ready have horsepower from the line like the 300zx 300hp tt
a miata to get at least 275 hp would need a big turbo means lots o turbo lag and other upgrades that would problably cost around $7.000dollars

but the miata is a good rwd fun car to drive
the cool thing abaut it is that i can go under the trucks here in usa

cmcpokey
01-05-2007, 07:05 PM
of the cars mentioned, i would probably go for the miata for its maneuverability alone. huge hp is not necessary. i would rather have a low hp car that wouldn't fry its parts. of the ones you mention, it would be an fb rx7, again small and maneuverable.

yeha i am more of a supra frek but to buy a supra these days is too expensive and u well have to do the engine and other body works and the rx7 is too expensive too u know the 3000gt is ogly and 300zx is perfect for me lots of porwer twin turbo lik supra
but only 5 sp but it has a low price on market today u see a 300zx 4times a week and a supra 2 times a month so u can see that there not much left and thats why prices are hight i wont one day to be old and have all the asians sport cars in the garage lik todays
american muscle cars

i guess ill entertain the idea of the thread.

Nsx - 300zx - rx-7 - supra - 3000gt

and driving under trucks is only cool if you get ran over. then its sort of sad, but i guess you get what you deserve.

well. hmm. all great cars. i dun like the NSX much since i think its a tad overrated. at the time it wasn't but now it is. 300ZX had a lil too much tech and the VG is no match to the VQ. Supra is crazy and RX-7 is a lot of work.

If you were going to compare any car with a GTR you should use the r32 to compare because it is the lightest out of thee the skylines

if we had all th cars here i might have gone for skyline ,3000gt, supra,rx7,nsx.
oh i didn't put the in order,so it depends on how much money i'v in my pocket and i can afford.maybe i would take the nsx over supra.it's not faster that supra, bud damn that car is sexy.

i dont see why you use the turbo versons of all the cars and you leave the 3000GT hanging out to dry. There is a VR4. I would probably go with a 300ZX. just because i like them

btw, none of these cars are expensive in the states. Had a supra last year. The only expensive one would probably be a NSX.

I gotta agree there, The VR4's and the Stealth R/T TT were 3.0L V6 twin turbo/twin intercooler...thats the one you should be comparing too. Not to mention the AWD and all those other nifty things not on the base and SL trims.

I love the Honda NSX (especially the NSX-R) and the Mazda RX-7 equally. Both cars have great performance figures and I've read many reviews which state they are great/fun to drive. I can't decide which car is better so I would have a
3rd generation series 8 (7?) RX-7 and a NSX-R.

However, I still really like the 3000GT, 3000zx and the Supra as well and I would be happy to have any of these cars as well. :D

exactly :) nice to agree with someone on this subject. Chubby or not, the supra tt would in most cases beat a rx-7.

Wow. The Asian cars forum is kind of a cesspool. Anyway, the NSX is still ahead of the game 15 years on in terms of build quality and driver involvement, the 3000 GT is a pig, the RX-7 is a great little sportscar limited by a short-lived engine. The Supra has a great engine, but a so-so chassis, from what I've read.

At any rate, where are the rally reps? Surely the WRX and EVO deserve mention in a "best ever Japanese" shortlist.

I believe so. The evo and the WRX are both able to compete against ferraris, etc, in Top Gear. The performance is very good, and can be used in most type of races, including circuit racing, drag racing, and in some case, drift racing ( in FF tokyou drift ). How ever, I'd rather go for the WRX, since Mitsubishi has a very very very bad reputation in Japan, for faulty cars.

i think you gotta look at the time period.

when the nsx first came out it was not only the best car in japan, but one of the best in the world. but nowadays its a little different.

i think the nsx is still the best of all those, but its also waaaay more expensive and a supra/rx-7/300zx with about 3-5 grand in modifications will be faster and still a hell of a lot cheaper although prolly not as good handling or looking so its sort of a toss up.

if money was no issue id get the nsx, but if it had to pay for the car i would get the 300zx cause i like the look of them and because supra's are soooo played out.

Luxurioux, you're a smart man.

Roosterjuicer, I agree the the NXS was, and arguably still is too expensive. It was a product of it's time, for sure, you're right, but look a what Ferrari was doing back then; the 308/328's Pininfarina bodywork still makes me weak at the knees, but under the skin is a creaky old Fiat chassis and wiring that looks like I installed it...

The NSX was a revelation matched most closely by the Porsche Boxter the better part of a decade later, and with the "Poorsche" image the Boxter has made for itself... well... I'd rather have a secondhand NSX for the money.

A well-kept example still exudes classy cool, and identifies its owner as a conneissuere (misspelled, I know) of thouroughly modern but still not reeking of the "flavor of the month" sportscars that litter most upscale streets.

Also, I agree the Supra popped its last cherry and became just another skank at the moment Vin Diesel took the wheel of one.
