i forgot to mentino my dads 1971 F250 which has a pretty long history. it was first bought as an F100, but after it couldnt handle 1.5tonne of bricks and the axle shafts tried to pop out, the cabin, gearbox (standard 4 speed) and engine (original 300 cube straight 6) were kept and put on an F250 chassis with dual rear wheels and F350 brake lines. now its read over 5 tonne on the weighbridge

my parents own 4 cars they are:
a holden crewman S pack 2004 model which we got last week brand new.
a subaru outback which is now 12 months old
a commodore wagon which is 3 years old
and a early 1990's falcon ute
Not bad choice the crewman is pretty good now that we just ut 10 grand worth of chrome magz and pirelli P Zero's on it although it still bounces around alot as we lowered it six inches that and it's a ute so. We will most probaly be selling the outback next year and buy a ford ba or something like that.

i don't think that it would have voided the warranty as it's only really the suspension as he'll have sold the magz nd tyres by next week as we own a bob jane store. Ummm not quite sure which suspension place we went to but i know that he lowered it 6 inches at the front and 4 at the back. it's illegal anyway cos the tints too dark so he's got bob jane written all over it too with like flames nd stuff looks pretty good. Were getting a spoiler for it tommorow aswell as holden dont make then for crewman's for some reason.

fordfan2
04-12-2004, 05:26 AM
yeh you were right i just found out that it did void the warranty but only on the suspension so the rest of the car's still covered. It's all good lol

Nah the design varies for different cars the original colour of the car is white and then painted ontop is yellow stripes and like a big bob jane head which is a sticker on either side and as it is a hard top there's another bob jane face on there to.Looks pretty good our commodore wagon is also painted with just bob jane written on it and blue flames looks pretty good aswell.

ahhh ok then so it varies from shop to shop dedpening on sign writer skills and so on and so forth....does the bob jane chain have any specific ties with holden because i only ever seem to see holden utes for the bob jane work utes...

Nah most of the franchise owners buy holden's as they are cheaper and there are more magz and tyres available for them.

Dad: Honda Accord Coupe
Mum: Rover 820 SLi

The blue Civic was my Mum's car before my Dad got the Accord, and she got the 820 (my Dad's old car). The pictures were taken before we sold the Civic.

The Rover rocks :D

Pics: [edit: Ģ$%& not in the order I uploaded 'em in.. I think it's obvious which is which]
#1: The Accord, with the 820 in the background, taken at the old house. The blue Civic has been sold to a friend.
#2: The Accord, again at the old house.
#3: The interior of the Accord
#4: The four-banger two-litre VTEC in the Accord

I have a nice pic of the Rover taken in the Lake District, but can't find it right now...

My mom and dad have one Lancia Delta Hpe 1.8 ... waht do you think about he car ?

IBrake4Rainbows
04-19-2004, 01:50 AM
A delta is a pretty good car, too bad it's not a Integrale.....

My Mother drives a BMW 328I, grey sedan with rear spoiler, aplty named because it ruins the lines of an otherwise immaculate E36.
My father drives a 1994 Jeep Cherokee sport. Grey again. so basic it's not funny.
My Aunt and Uncle drive a 1995 White Ford Telstar Ghia, otherwise known as a badge engineered Mazda 626 from the same era. You may have spotted it about Spastik as they live in Fielding, NZ. Near Palmerston North.
My Grandmother Used to drive a Holden Barina (Opel/Vauxhall Corsa) Until she passed away, my mother sold the car so that my sister and myself could use the money to buy cars for ourselves when the time arose.

that's all my family, unfortunately most of them are dead, which doesn't set a good precendent for myself, especially my Grandfather, he died at 35, and not from an accident!

IBrake4Rainbows

Wellington? HA! Wellington is one big accident zone waiting to happen, i should know, i lived there. The Hospital is built next to a FREAKING faultline! and of course state Highway 1 Runs right down the centre of the Faultline. Add the Psychotic pedestrians, scary, scary busdrivers and lousy, windy weather, it's almost enough to make you stay home.

Plus: shops all within walking distance of each other
Minus: there built on old shoreline, in an Earthquake (Which is due) most of Wellingtons going underwater.......
Plus: good public transport routes, a bus every 2 minutes, as they put it
Minus; The bus drivers scare the Bejesus out of me, DON'T LOOK THEM IN THE EYE!!!!!!!!

Well my parents made a greand leap and bout a toyota (i think) prado....first new car bought by my parents in 26 years (mum owned her 120Y since new dad once owned a new but his brother crashed it he then bought a car of exactly the same model soon after wards) the problem....they have to wait for deliver which could take god onlyknows how long (could be andy where froma week to a couple of months) they wish to use this car for some minor off roading and towing a caravan (which we dont own yet) and another dissapointment is its an auto....ivedrivan one before turbo diesel just like this although manaul and it was a nice car to drive other then its floaty handeling....but its their money their choice...i could of gotten them a Isuzu rodeo for cost price....

fpv_gtho
04-19-2004, 03:13 AM
the prado should be a good car though, not as hardcore as the 75 or 100 series but for some occasional offroading and caravan towing it should be more than enough. that and the Pajero are considered the best in their class so its a good buy on your parents behalf

IBrake4Rainbows
04-19-2004, 03:15 AM
We used to own an old Pajero, still makes me laugh how much it rolled about, it was like a bloody yacht on open seas!

A mate of mine has a 100 series Landcruiser, it's freaking huge inside, i am not a small person but i could stretch really far out, i loved it!

fpv_gtho
04-19-2004, 03:21 AM
i feel rather cramped at times though in my dads 80 series. i feel easily more comfortable in the back of my mums 98 camry but the front seats in the landcruiser arent something to complain about. i dont know whether any revisions were made to the 3rd row rear seats on the 100 series from the 80 series, but if toyota were smart, which 99% of the time they are, they wouldve tried to get a bit more room in there somewhere

One of ourclose family friends has a 60 seriespertol powerdlandcruiser which is actually a nice car...abit rought but it works in carting around his 3 kids and wife and is quite good off roading....
Also on that note i could of goten them a pajero or a challenger for much the same price.....If only mum didnt dislike manuals....

Hey falc you rmember how i told you how my parents just brought a brand new crewman well lucky that none of those mods we did did void the warranty as there's already something wrong with the diff but the gonna fix it 4 free. ;)

fpv_gtho
04-19-2004, 03:37 AM
well i think the Challenger still has a seperate ladder chassis and solid rear axle which have benefits in towing and offroading, but you wouldnt push it too far as i think it lacked a low range gearbox and im unsure if it had a centre diff lock, although even a ford escape/mazda tribute has the centre diff lock

fpv_gtho

do you know what happened to the diff? i dont think anything too bad couldve happened to a stock car unless someone tried to do a burnout in it or something

Falcon500
04-19-2004, 03:42 AM
Well my brothers ute had a leaky shock...so the dealership gave him anew dif...he laterghave it back saying the shock which was the problem was leaking...but thanks for the new diff....
Could be a trade agreement though bob jane Tmart...can hardly be expected to drive around with normal wheels on a car advertising such a buiesness? oh and pelase do tellme if this is a common problem...might be something that might be a futre problem in these models....
I dont reallyknowmuch about the challenger...only it looks like a little pajero....

Spastik_Roach

fpv_gtho

Yeh it's deffinately not from doing burnouts can't do them if the name Bob Jane is writtn all over the side of the car but my dad who knows more about cars than anyone i know didn't seem too surprised but where not to sure exactly wats wrong with it yet we'll just have to wait to it's first service in 2 weeks(a month after we brought it).I mean that were not sure whats wrong with the diff.

fordfan2
04-19-2004, 05:11 AM
It wasn't quite what i was expecting from a brand new car specially a Holden i mean if it was a Hnda or Toyota or something like that but Ford and Holden are 2 of the best cars in Australia. But i surpose these things do happen and another thing thats wrong is that on the crewman there is a window in between the two side windows like a small one and that moves aswell.

04-19-2004, 05:16 AM

if only this was true. ford and holden will take a couple of years to match the build quality of japanese built honda's and toyota's. its sad, but its the truth. did the car have a 1000km service at all or is that the one coming up in 2 weeks?

I'm mainly surprised as my parents have brought 3 brand new subaru outbacks in a row and not once has there been anything wrong with any of them although they keep on selling them before they get 2 years old before they de-value but my oint is they never had any of these problems. But as you said australian cars aren't as good quality as Japanese so.

well 1st year depreciation is the worst, but its better value to get rid of a car at around 3 years as thats when the warranties over and usually around when a newer model or at least an update comes in

it happens alot with company cars...once the warranty's up its too big a risk to keep the car and it become more expensive to fix so they just trade it in for another one. my dad late last year bought an ex company car 99 Farimont Ghia V8 and around suburban streets its more of a blast than his M3. he just found out that at the end of this year, the guy that he bought it off (hes a business associative or something......i dont know what you would call it but practically the guy works for a company that my dads company does work for...) and at the end of the year hes going to get rid of his current BA Ghia V8 and my dad wants that one as well (for the right price of course)

Yeh i can understand why that would be the case for comany cars as the comany cant fully trust the driver not to go of and do something stupid in the car so there could be a lot of damage to the cars. That was lucky of you dad to be able to catch u with that guy you'll problay get it for a bargain.

well he picked up the AU for trade in price which was only $19K, he wont get the BA anywhere near as cheap as that as it will only be 2 years old, and its been fitted with a cat back exhaust

well i said before its someone my dad knows through work......still with that i dont think hes going to try rip my dad off, not only is it not his car but hes bound to be getting a new one, possible a BA2 if he lieks the car, or maybe hes sick of the Ghia's

Yeh i think my mum's sick of the Outback as she said that she wouldn't buy one again. Probaly will be a BA xr6turbo or something like that. I think she said she liked celicas aswell so probaly one of those 2. Although we wont trade in the Outback for atleast another year as it's only just gone in for it's 12 month service a month ago.

well the XR6T is a completely different ballpark to an Outback, but theyre still highly popular. that saying though, my grandfather was planning on getting a new Outback H6 but he loves my dads Fairmont Ghia so much it seems hes gong to just keep that

Yeh i think that's what she want's(something different)i mean imagine buying the same cars for six years. I mean it's alright to own a car for six years but to own one sell it, own one sell it and then buy another one of the same car. I mean the design of the car has only really changed this year(this years model looks much better in my opinion). I see what you mean by the XR6 turbo being way different though as Outbacks aren't very powerfull.

My parent (well, basically my dad) owns a sienna; a corolla; an accent (for sister to commute to school); a 914; and partially own my Forester.

The accent, 914, and my Forester are 2nd hand. And the 914 still has some problems and can't run on the road yet. The last time I went back to Vancouver, he still didn't have time to fix it and I doubt it is fixed by now.

I understand that, I was asking whether you have a chance to make a proper trip before being at the other end of the island, or is it bigger than I'm imagining.

but is like having some roads along the coastline and the remainder being inaccessible mountaineous terrain? Just trying to sort out what sort of distances you can drive between the two point most far away from each other

why don't you come here to see? :p the principal roads are along the coastline but you can go to mountains or to the north side of the island with secundary roads! there are roads everywhere practically, the people who never come here think that madeira it's very small and don't have any technology but that's completely wrong!you can see more informations opf madeira at Madeira-web (http://www.madeira-web.com)
